Aside from the occasional troll and spoiler, the pros of the message boards bury the cons! Please keep the boards alive!!

This seems like a strange idea if it's supposed to be for the better for users. The only reason I have the IMDB app is to view the message/trivia boards after I watch a movie. I cannot fathom how I would find any hint of conversational threads, let alone intelligent ones, in Facebook et al alternatives as suggested. Smacks of a monetary corporate decision instead of something we, the users, truly want. Stupid thing is they'll get a spike in traffic, and there'll be much corporate back-slapping, as everyone checks out the "social sites" before realising how useless they are. Sadly, it will happen, and I'll delete the app and no longer bother with IMDB from that date.

I would really hate to see these boards go! They are very important to many people and provide an easy place for a fandom to come together and discuss topics. It is also my number 1 source of information on series' and movies! Please don't shut it down

Getting rid of the message boards will get you rid of most of your active community, are you aware of that?

This is the worst thing IMDB can do. I have used it for years and it's the only place you can discuss any movie, actor, director, tv show, and everything else. I have no further use of IMDB if they close it down. The only reason I go there!

Please don't stop the message boards. I enjoy reading them everyday. There really isn't anything else quite like them. Most of us are sensible enough to ignore the trolls and silly or abusive comments. It's mostly a great experience. Please don't take them away from us.

Keep the message boards. They provide a great source of discussion about films. If you remove the message boards, there will be little reason for me to use IMDb ever again.

While I don't post often, I have frequently browsed the message boards. I've never found a significant issue in terms of negative or offensive content. The imdb boards are, I think, the last board that I've continued to frequent, previous ones having been disabled in many years past. Until I saw the notice today announcing the pending closure of the boards, I didn't even know imdb had a Facebook page. The problem with that is that will deter me from ever participating again on message boards - because I prefer to remain anonymous. I fear it will have the same effect on many other participants, and it will have a chillling effect on online participation. Facebook by necessity forces people to reveal their real identities. Further, to be frank, Facebook is not a particularly elegant solution. It lacks the option of organizing topics as the current message boards do. Imagine if you were trying to find a particular topic of discussion - what would you do? You'd need to wade through dozens or hundreds of comments before you could get to the issue in which you were interested. I have been a member of imdb for over 14 years, and I do urge imdb to reconsider.

Only reason I use IMDb, except to learn more about an actor. And I can use Wikipedia for that.

Don't understand this decision. I'll have little reason to visit IMDb without the message boards. I suspect a great many others feel the same way. Foot well and truly shot.

Nobody believes the lie that you're doing this to somehow enhance the user experience. MANY people visit the IMDb daily for the sole purpose of reading the boards. If you get rid of them, the traffic to site is going to sink like the Titanic.
Congratulations on pissing off a huge percentage of your users. Stellar business decision!
