I know there is a certain toxic element to some the boards on IMDB, but I don't think disabling them altogether is the answer. Where else can you go to discuss movies on a movie-by-movie basis? My ritual for years has been to come to the boards after watching a movie or a TV show to read or discuss things with other users, or even sometimes the director or writer. I definitely won't be using IMDB nearly as much without this! Please, come up with a way to fix the board system instead of giving up on it!

Please do not cancel the message boards. they are what makes imdb different from all movie sites in the internet. After a movie i always come to IMDB, rate the movie and spend hours in the message boards.

Taking away the message boards will take away theories, discussions, and overall communications about the art of film. The message boards allow for views to channel across the world and for interpretations to be discussed with others who have a deep love for the masterpieces that may have changed their lives. I'm begging, please do not remove the message boards.

Although I don't post on the message boards, I frequently read them to get others' opinions and sometimes to get clarification on something I might have missed. I don't like seeing all the name calling either, but there has to be a way to keep the boards open while eliminating the BS. Automatic removal if more than 5 complaints or something with a banning of the offending poster's IP address and IMBd profile. Don't let the few trolls ruin it for all others. As far as I can tell, nobody has been killed over words posted on your message boards. Thanks for taking the time to read and consider my opinion on the matter.
