The boards were a place to ask questions about parts of movies some didn't understand, divulge one's own theories and digest theories from other movie-goers, make comments about the movie without wiring an entire review, come together to speculate and just talk about movies, and to have something to do when you're done watching a movie that you're curious about. I think it was a terrible idea to get rid of the boards. I am very upset, as I see imdb to be very comprehensive, and the boards were a large component of that. It sucks. There are trolls everywhere. Why do they get to win?

That was the worst decision ever. Citing software issues as the reason is ridiculous in our day and age. While I didn't love some users' animosity and bad manners unleashed by Internet's anonymity, the boards helped me make sense of many a film, air my own views and find questions to whatever answers I might have. Without the message boards, the whole IMDB site is indeed rendered irrelevant.

Don't let the trolls win. Bring them back but with more policing of users.

without the forums your site just isn't the same, and my life just isn't the same.

I'm not sure what to say. The idea of removing the message boards just seems ludicrous to me.

Definitely a huge loss for those of us who enjoy watching movies and then coming to the boards to discuss with other viewers. It was a great way to share ideas and gain better understanding of intricate movie plots. I think it was a mistake to remove the boards. Hopefully, this petition and others like it helps IMDB realize how big of a mistake it has made.

I had been using the imdb forums since 2003. It was great to read all about the various film segment analysis. I had also enjoyed the occasional banter among the participants. It is such a lost to see the forums disappear.

The message boards were a fantastic source of obscure information, shared experiences, plot explanations and discussions, and a wonderful way for movie lovers to communicate and discuss. This was a terrible decision by someone who likely never used the boards, which is a damn shame.

I want the message boards back! I used to read them after watching a movie to clarify things I didn't understand or simply to see what other people thought about specific parts of the movie. There are ways to manage the trolls, that's not a good enough reason to shut it down.

Oh how I miss these boards. I just watched A Long Way From Home and really need to see what others thought about this strange, moving movie.

I want the message boards back! I'm so lost with out them. No way to discuss and trade info on particular movie titles. Facebook just lumps everything together.

A real shame to lose the IMDB message boards, they were useful for discussing or asking questions related to a specific film, sometimes the only platform to connect with other like-minded people and exchange views about obscure titles. This is something you cannot do on Facebook etc. IMDB should at least come up with a viable alternative rather than scrap the interactive side of the website completely. To me it was an integral part IMDB.

The IMDb Message boards were an incredibly useful tool to be able to communicate with other fans who liked the same movie or TV show as you. On the message boards, news regarding a movie or show spread quickly. This was usually the place were I first heard about a show being renewed for a new season, cancelled, or some other event relating to it. On these message boards you could ask questions if there was something you didn't understand and discuss theories and ideas etc. Sure there were some trolls occasionally, but in my experience they were only a margin. The good about the message boards outweighed the bad by far! Shutting them down was a huge mistake.
