Terrible idea! The children, the relatives, the friends and the fans need to share their memories. The so-called alternatives are nearly useless compared to IMDb. For the few that post many more read them. If some cause trouble you already have a remedy, use it.

This is a control issue of facebook, and twitter, no one is being fooled. It will be the end of IMDB eventually. Don't dig your own grave.

One of the first things I do with every new show or movie is scroll to the message boards, before I even read the reviews.

I Jove visiting the IMDB message board while watching movie or TV shows. It affords me the opportunity to discover ideas and answers questions like ' who is that actor or what show did that guy used to be on'.
I hope you change your decision in removing the message board, it gives us viewers a chance to interact with like-minded people.

I do not remember a time where I went on IMDb and did not go on some message board to get more info on an actor and/or film. Please do not take the message boards away!

The message board was the only reason I would come here, now that it's going away, you will lose millions of fans. Reconsider this decision

IMDb message boards for me is not a complex social networking platform like facebook or twitter. Its simplicity itself is a hallmark feature, think of it as a drive through that's always there whenever you're hungry from more information.

IMDB is the best place on the Internet to get information about TV Shows and Movies. The boards allow people to evaluate and discuss their favorite shows or topics. Please do NOT shutdown the IMDB discussion boards!

This is ridiculous. The main reason people use IMDB is for the boards.
How about people ignore or report people who are abusing the boards?
The IMDB message boards have been a huge part of my movie watching experience for nearly 2 decades.
It will just never be the same without the boards.
What is the real reason? I know it's not trolls, there were always trolls. At least don't lie to us, it's definitely not "data or stats" either because the IMDB boards are very active.

The boards are the heart of IMDB. Without them, it would just be a site a go to for showtimes sometimes and to look up an actors name occasionally.
The site will be very lame without the boards.

Ask for Moderators, let people volunteer to monitor every board. Nobody like the haters and the spammers anyway, but don't burn the board down, its one of the best places on the internet to hear public discourse about movies and TV. And many people love it.

No need to visit IMDb in future once the message boards are closed-this was the main reason I visit

I have been visiting the message boards since 2003 and continue to do so nearly every day. Please reconsider, the internet won't be the same without it!
