Going to message boards on imdb is one of my favorite things about the site. I'm so upset imdb is deleting them.

These boards are the gateway to real info on movies and tv shows.

IMDb is a daily site for me because of the message boards. Without them I'll have almost no reason to visit the site. I hope they keep them as I don't believe the "lack of positive content" reason and think all they want to do is not employ people to administer it anymore. Or, as some have said they want more control over how content and media is portrayed/sold. There are some venomous people posting, like on any forum, but with ignore and being a grownup, I can easily navigate it. Message boards go then I'm freeing up a slot on my bookmarked sites.

Not sure why they see the need to shut down the boards. I can't count the number of times I've got there to look up a movie I formerly thought was confusing only to come away with a new-found appreciation for it thanks to someone else's critical insight. I rarely participate, but regularly read. It's an invaluable service, and I would like to see it stay.

Terrible idea. Sure it's annoying that most people just argue that they think a movie "sucks and you're an idiot to like it", but there's also a lot of quality information that will be lost.

FB is really bad for discussing thing. Also it's slow, unorganized. We have sooo much useful information in the boards. Don't tell me you're running out of space... it's 2017, and these are plaintext short. //Also, is there and ftp for archiving purposes? It's NOT in the imdb.com database ftb.

Forum is better form of interacting with people than Facebook and Twitter. In forum we can write thought provoking paragraphs of texts, we can't do that in Twitter. And No one reads long texts on Facebook.

Everytime i've watched a movie i go on IMDb to read trivia and check the message board for opinions about the movie. Now not every movie is really worth that effort but when you've just finished watching a deep touching movie you want to discuss it with other people, IMDb message board is invaluable for this purpose!

IMDb is my life. Removing the message boards is a wrong move! As someone who loves film entertainment to death, please don't remove the boards.

Message boards are the main reason I visit the IMDb site. It's the perfect place to discuss plots and plot holes, and everything else movies-related, and to get answers to questions you wouldn't otherwise know where to ask. Please don't close the message boards. Surely they don't require too much server space or high maintenance cost?

I have enjoyed reading the messages other people write. I like to hear the different opinions and interpretations.

IMDb becomes nearly useless without a message board feature.

I've been a member of the IMDb message board since 2004. While there are trolls (like everywhere else on the internet) it is also an incredible resource. I have had many awesome discussions about movies, TV shows, etc over the years.

The boards of IMDB are essential to the site, not everyone wants to discuss on facebook or twitter. 80% of my time spent on IMDB is for the boards - get rid of those, there will basically be no point for me to return.
