Petition to keep the IMDB messageboards going

IMDB should leave the message boards up, even if they do not allow anyone to post to them. Nobody can possibly archive the information on hundreds of movies in two weeks. IMDB can track the traffic by members who continue to view the closed message boards, and then complain of their closing. I have no intention of using Facebook (a huge invasion of privacy), nor will i use Twitter. I will stop visiting IMDB ENTIRELY, if the message boards are gone. IMDB got rid of the Daily Poll, similarly directing everyone to Facebook, which I ignored., The Daily Poll was brought back to the front page after angry members continued to demand it for a few years.

Appears we're now living an age where free speech becomes increasing rare. Very sad...

I'm signing as I think of the person who knows not to worry about what someone says online. I also understand people who cannot let it go, for that reason I won't be that hurt if it's gone. I personally like it and will miss it, so I hope it stays.

The IMDb message boards have been a good source of information for years, shutting them down in favour of passing fads like Twitter, Snapchat etc. would be insane

I have been going to IMDB for years for the message boards alone. Please find an alternate for those of us who use the boards respectfully

Messageboards are a wonderful way of keeping up with general opinions and views on movies. Especially older movies! And all this is supposed to be wiped away? Please reconsider!

Imdb was born as a collaborative, users generated site. I have contributed to it for more than 16 years, both for my job and my pleasure. And now you are kicking us out because of some stupid trolls? Not very respectful, Amazon.

Won't be using IMDb if the boards go.

Keep in mind that this is not just about this board...this site has thousands of message boards...for every film obscure or blockbuster, new and old...for every actor alive and dead, for every series in the history of tv...and that's not even counting the politics, religion and all those other community boards. It's quite a hit really. And I can't imagine coming here much for anything else that can't be done somewhere else without the message boards. We can protest but I doubt they'll budge. It's not making them money. This move is nothing less than pure censorship. Good bye IMDB 1990-2017 and good America 1776-2017 it was a good run-

@Amazon Deleting @IMDB message boards is a horrible idea. NONE of the alternatives provide the archive of info there. Kill DMs if necessary, but the discussions provide loads of info your site does not. I just visited tonight to see if an actor is related to another on the same show with the same last name. I've done this several times before, and only the message boards provided an answer. And I've looked up other such info not covered by your data. Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Pinterest, YouTube, and Tumblr are all timely feeds. They dictate to us what you want us to see. They do not provide the type of database linked to the titles and people, that the message boards do. Plus, this data came from the public. Please do not delete it.

Please don't eliminate the boards. If you don't find a cost benefit, maybe you can turn moderation over to the community.

I am adding my voice to keep the IMDB message boards. A great deal of the enjoyment of IMDB is discussing films and TV programs with others.

Without these boards, all IMDb is...a shill for whoever I. Hollywood is paying for good fake ratings. Hello Rotten Tomatoes!
