I can't believe that you are shutting down the comment lines. I use your service to look up and discuss old movies probably everyday. Surely you can come up with a solution so that mature people can enjoy discussing the movies that we love.

While I don't post on the message boards... I do visit them frequently to see what others are saying about TV shows and movies I watch. If I have questions about something I didn't understand or want to read different opinions about something I've just watched I love checking the imdb boards. While I understand imdb thinks social media is replacing this feature actually it really isn't. Especially for those who don't use social media much. You can't search a specific movie or actor's board on social media. People won't get into in depth discussion on social media with specific threads. You can't search for specific discussions about shows or movies from the 90s and earlier etc. This feature will be missed and it's not being replaced at all... Thank you.

Please do not end the boards. I have always found them informative and a great place for people to comment on shared interests in films and TV shows.

I am signing this petition to save the IMDb message boards because I find incredible value in them for film fans. It's the only place where there is a dedicated board for every movie or TV series where people can discuss, exchange ideas, interpretations, theories, and gain new viewpoints or enlightenment.
Every movie, no matter how obscure or overlooked has a board. Whether if it's a major blockbuster, a cult classic, or a relatively undiscovered movie/show that you loved, there is a place for that particular film or TV show's fans can discuss it.
Sure there was some abuse of the boards with internet trolls, but when there was troll activity, I avoided engaging in that thread on that board. Moreover, other members were reminding fellow members to "not feed the trolls", and there was progress on that. Several members took it upon themselves to get discussion back on track when a thread got off track due to an internet troll.
Whenever people can express themselves freely on the internet, you will run into these people, just like you would in real life, but it was a small price to pay (and easily avoidable with the mindset and rules) in order to freely discuss our passions.
There is no replacement out there that can replicate the idea that every movie/show has it's own board and following to exchange ideas. Facebook and Twitter, while good at some things, wouldn't be able to fill this role.
Getting rid of the message boards is not a solution to a problem; it is the absence of even trying to look for a solution.
I support this petition to keep the message boards.

The message boards somehow became the first thing I checked after watching the movie. I'd really miss the creative fan theories or just random discussions over small details of a certain movie scene.
Also it's a great place for recommendations of smaller films I've otherwise would've missed.
Save the Message Boards!

Please reconsider. The actions of a few should not affect the enjoyment of so many. You have built a community filled with a diverse group of people who can put aside their differences and discuss something we all love. Please please please reconsider.
