I was on the site since I was 16 and it meant so much for me. Especially during the Twilight Zone Marathons. It was such a rich experience that I miss.

very useful to debate and discuss movies after months without the boards. I still find myself going to IMDB to make a post to end up coming to the realization that they are gone.

I just loved being able to discuss films in IMDB, it's just not the same experience without the message boards!!!

I'm really really disappointed the message boards are gone. It's not fair to the rest of us who used the boards peacfully and discussed films. :(

Sad decision probably motivated by money issues, with total disregard for users.
IMDb has been going downhill fast recently, becoming more and more money-driven, focusing on gossip and advertising for tentpoles (and their own Amazon content, of course) but I still went there occasionally to read message boards. Not anymore. Giving so little notice and deleting everything without consulting us was criminal.
Thankfully someone preserved some of it : https://moviechat.org/
And there is an alternative, although for now it's lagging far behind in terms of traffic : https://www.themoviedb.org/

There is currently nothing out there that matches what IMDb message boards provided.
It was the Wikipedia of message movie/tv boards.

I've been going to IMDB since the 90s and the message boards are the only reason. I like hearing other people's opinions, analyses, and questions about the movies. Without the message boards, there isn't much info about movies that I can't find elsewhere.

I really wish IMDB has (almost equal) competitor.
That would have prevented them treating the board members as sh*t.
If any misuse occuring it is the responsibility of the site owners to moderate it.
Outright closing points out that they think their users are expendable.
BRING IT BACK.

I have given it some time, but I still miss the message boards every time I look up a movie, which is a couple of times a week. It was not only informative to read other movie-lovers' thoughts and feelings, it was entertaining and thought-provoking. I learned so much.

The message boards should be brought back. They were great. It was always a great place to discuss particular movies and or actors. Thee is no other great place to do this. It was all in one place. I have recently been trying to find certain things out about a movie or actor and been unable to. If the message boards were still active I know for a fact that I could have found the info in less than a couple of minutes. The message boards always provided a great experience. Please don't punish everyone because of a few trolls. In today's world, they exist everywhere, and the only way to deal with them is ignore them. It seems closing the boards because of trolls is giving trolls exactly what they want. Please reopen the message boards.

The IMDb message board was a place to share interesting information about movies. It also educated. Yes, there were trolls, but with today's technology, there are things that can be done to lessen their impact. Please bring back the IMDb message board.
