Please do not shut down imbd boards. It's one of the best places to talk about films. Although some moderation on those trolling would be nice.

Really disappointed that these are going as they were a great source of info on movies and what viewers thought of them. Won't be following IMDB on Facebook..

The message boards are one of the main reasons why I even bother with IMDB. I will way less inclined to visit the site with the message boards gone.

I'd be willing to pay a subscription fee to keep participating in the message boards. Maybe this would bring serious film buffs in and keep the trolls and kids out.

Please reconsider the message board deletion. Facebook is not an acceptable alternative to the message boards nor is Snapchat or Twitter -- you think if I get on there and ask about GONE BABY GONE that it's going to get a lot of people even seeing it let alone chiming in? It was bad enough when you started removing posts that were older so a movie from 2005 only had the last couple of months of comments and all the interesting conversations and older "already answered" questions about meaning and plot were gone, but now we won't even have a chance to restart certain discussions or ask questions. I know there were a bunch of crappy posts on there but I could look past those messages to the majority that had good content (if someone doesn't like something, THEY don't have to go there!). I check messages for almost every single movie I see to find out what I missed, get different viewpoints, etc... Also, when you close them, why delete them? At least leave them locked but up for reference for good, there's a WEALTH of knowledge to be gained from what's already there and no reason to just throw it all out.

The first thing I do after watching a movie is going to the discussion boards of IMDB and seeing what other people thought of it. Without the message boards I will no longer have a reason to go to IMDB.

Every time I wanted to know something about a movie or a show I went to the boards and my questions were answers. For me, IMDB without the boards is just another wiki site

Employ monitors to watch the boards instead of just deleting them! One of my favourite things to do after watching a show or movie is to go on and read people's theories or find explanations on things I might not have otherwise. It is such a valuable resource for fans of the art!
