IMDB message boards have been a part of my life for many years. There is NOTHING like it on the internet; every single movie, TV show, actors, directors, writers, producers, etc. THE most comprehensive and the ONLY source of various interesting, thought-provoking ideas, opinions, perspectives, angles, interpretations, analysis, even news, developments and spoilers that entertain and enlighten. IMDB should be proud of what it has built and nurtured over the years. It goes beyond fans and filmmakers. Removing it would create a HUGE cultural and intellectual VOID in the worldwide community.

One of the reasons the message boards are so popular is because unlike posting on social media the individual has the incentive of remaining anonymous if they choose to. Some people prefer to stay private, and social media outlets will not provide that convenience.

I have learnt no end of fascinating information from this forum and some of it has been a total side tracking from the original research. Many every intelligent people contribute to this site and I think it would be a backward step to close it. It's as if you don't think we are able to filter out the abusiveness, ignoring it for the worthlessness that it is..... Which it isn't entirely. It is constructive to analyse the posting patterns in these diatribes.

I understand that there may be trolls on the forum, and that it is difficult to control, but some people like me come to comment on films, and I just personally ignore trolls. Concerning the amount of visits, it will be difficult to have the same amount of information and create groups of people interested in speaking about a particular film.

Going to IMDb to debate/discuss/theorize is almost always my first thought when I finish something. This has been the case for well over a decade. Please don't take this massive communication ability away for the few bad apples.

The primary reason I come to IMDB is for the message boards, which gets me to look at other parts of their site.

I understand that new movies are discussed on facebook etc but there's a lot of history on those imdb.com boards from years ago that a lot of people still read and find useful!

Imdb boards are the only reason I and many people come to the site. Not everyone wants to go on social media, a vile environment, to discuss their favorite movies or shows in depth. By getting rid of the boards you are getting rid of a vital part of the site. Many will stop coming onto the site, as I probably will. I suggest getting rid of celebrity boards and inactive boards, but not the active boards where full communities have formed. This is an extremely stupid move. You have had message boards on your site forever and they are the only reason I even kept coming to this site when I first visited it at least a decade ago. Please rethink this.

Been coming to these boards off and on for twenty years---yes twenty years. Since July 1996. It would be a shame to see them go. Please reconsider.
