I really hope IMDb can keep their forum. I was using RottenTomatoes as my first movie review site. But ever since i came to know about IMDb and the forum, it became my go to website,
Everytime i need to find out more about a new movie, or even to see what others have to say about a movie i have seen, IMDb forum is the only place i would log into. Without it, i doubt i would ever use IMDb again. The forum is a great area for people to share more in details about the movies they have seen. Or for people to recommend similar type of genres. By removing it, I'm pretty sure a lot of users would jump to another site.

Imdb is the place I've got a chance to talk about movies/shows with other people. It's so interesting to read the opinions and discuss a film or series' meaning, subtext, future, expectations, ... This'll never work out properly on something like Facebook or Twitter. Keep the boards!

The message board was the first thing I came to after watching a film. To read about other people's thoughts or discuss opinions. IMDB on Facebook is absolutely NO equivalent substitution, because you cannot start a discussion, and you cannot filter all discussions about a particular film or actor!

The message boards are part of my ritual after viewing a movie. I always venture there to read up on how others interpreted the movies plot and such and loved to read other people's opinions on it. Don't get rid of them, it's such an amazing addition.

The trolls aren't really TOO bad, plus there's a lot of discussion that makes you see movies in a new light. Bad decision to take it away.

The message boards are the only reason I go on imdb. It's become a habit of mine to check them right after watching an interesting film or show. Many great discussions would be lost that cannot be had elsewhere.

I visit these IMDB-discussion-board on a daily basis. Without I would be lost, and become unable to share my thoughts about the most complicated movies on this planet.

I enjoy the message boards and read very few negative personal comments. It's sad that in today's overly sensitive world, the actions of a very few can negate what the many use in a posative adult manner

From the standpoint of the user, there are two good reasons not to shut down these message boards: 1) it is the central location for the discussions, i.e. one does not have to check FaceBook, Twitter, and other social media sites; 2) there are some of us who do not, and do not want to, use "social media" applications. Frankly, while IMDB is useful as a reference it is the Discussion Board feature that makes it unique as there are other places that have this information as well.

I have used the IMDB board for over 12 years! After watching a movie or show, I love reading peoples thoughts and interpretations; providing me an more enriched understanding and appreciation for what I have viewed. This site is a valuable resource, and in the end, I feel it helps business more than it hurts it. When you have a massive group enjoying something together, it generates excitement and interest.

Imdb is about to do something very stupid. This is the place where cinema lovers discuss and understand and share impression of films. Removing that is like leaping back into the past, when nobody could say things, and one-way TV media was the ruling communication.
