Shutting down these boards would be the single worst decision ever taken by iMDB. I know I will not be visiting the site if they are shut down.

I've been on IMDB since 2005 and I'll be very sad to see the site lose the forums. Please reconsider.

Your ability to remain a resource in the online community means a lot to the people that love all things related to film and TV. Reconsider your position.

It's true that I post a lot of incoherent, florid drivel on the boards. Sometimes I write messages purely to annoy other posters, sometimes I'm oversensitive and bite back at criticism in a splendidly horrid way. This often follows bouts of drinking cleaning products and inhaling the fumes from the local turpentine factory's ventilator shaft. Nevertheless, there's no reason to assume that the all the users are currently failing to derive any pleasure or fulfillment from using the boards. It's justvile, punitive nonsense aimed towards some future ploy of making people pay to subscribe. When I had more time to myself, it used to be an intrinsic part of my daily routine to log in and connect with a largely wonderful community for several hours. For vast numbers of people it still is. Without the message boards, IMDB will fail. It will become a hollow, advert-riddled, mercantile encyclopedia of promotion and commercialvanity. No one should really worry too much about that because another, better site will rise up and fill the void, pushing IMDB to the fringes. Still, it would be better to save everyone a load of trouble and keep it the way it is.

Like so many others I really appreciate the IMDB message boards. Despite the troll posts, there are so many useful information and good thoughts on movies. It would be a terrible loss and I think the site would lose a lot of it's relevance.

It's like burning millions of stacks of old letters. A shared online journal. Unique conversations and information! A museum. Congrats on the planned vandalism. We'll have a big void in online history. Good-bye AMAZON, good-bye IMDB.

I love the boards, have been a member for over 12 years and it's the best place to discuss all things movies.
