I am terribly saddened to see this go. There is so much information that is specific to what you're looking up in just one spot! The other sites just aren't as concise. I use IMDb.com more than any other site! Please keep this informative place for us to learn.

Personally I have never been a member of IMDB, but I was the first in the family to discover IMDB, my brother is a member & has also signed, as a forum owner myself, I will say that for IMDB to close their forums is a big mistake & to "migrate" them to facebook is an even bigger mistake, it will just beccome another generic looking facebook group with no character whatsoever, also what I have learned with forums migrating to facebook, they only ever have a small percentage of active users of what they would have done in a traditional message board, every effort must be made to keep IMDB forums going, I am signing this petition not just for the thousands of members on the IMDB community but for all messages boards as a whole!

This is silly. 1000's of people use these boards every single day. Even those who don't post much (like me) go on the boards to read though.

It is important that the freedom of speech is continued. Everyone likes to put their 2 cents in on topic. It is important especially to people like myself to be able to feel I can express my opinion especially in the arts, to edify, encourage and to let others I appreciate their hard work and dedication.

This was the best way for me to understand films from multiple perspectives. It's a community of people that truly love cinema.
Plus the traffic to imdb will take a hit without the message board users.

The message boards are what I use
most at IMDB. Without them, I'll
rarely come to this website. They're
so useful in so many ways. I've learned so much by reading what
others have experienced, what their
opinions are, & where they've found
certain information. It's especially
interesting dealing with our Brit
friends, asking them questions
about British movies & actors that
only they would know. Don't take
away our only avenue for learning
about movies & actors & customs
from people who know firsthand &
can explain it to the rest of us. We're
all friends here & we appreciate all
that we can share with each other.

I am doing this for my daughter who is very disappointed about the disassemble of the message board. Why so abruptly!

The boards is WHAT makes the site. Without the comments, how do they expect the site to thrive?

I do not post on the message boards, but I do like reading what everyone else has to say about a movie or tv show. Its very intersting to read about what others think.

This is an insane overreaction! I use the message boards to do stuff like ask if anyone has seen a complete version of an old film, or who was the actor in some scene... I have been able to provide some people with copies of films they were seeking, from a film buff point of view the site will loose over 50% of it's value.
