IMDb you're making a huge mistake. Please reconsider.

Imdb IS the boards. And they have made me the movie lover i am today. Users, comments, interpretations enhanced my ability to understand a film, to discuss it, to get the first and the second and the next or any level of it. Half of my internet time is spent reading board posts, in which i believe that lies a part of film history throughout the opinions and insight of the imdb board users. It is, indeed, a pitty...

You can't shut down the message boards for IMDB ... It's the only reason a lot of people, myself included, go there. This must be the most boneheaded decision I've ever heard of. :/

Very dissapojnting news. I for one, will not switch over to social media outlets you've mentioned. This will decrease my perceived value of your product tremendously.

The message boards are really the only thing I go to IMDb for. Once they're gone, I'm gone too - I have no use for it without the message boards.

I've been posting on the message boards since IMDB had message boards. I don't remember when IMDB started, but I created an account shortly after they did once I found them. 2 decades maybe? Maybe more. Now that I have an iPad and iPhone I quickly installed the IMDB apps. Once the message boards are gone, I'll delete those apps. I won't have any reason to visit the website either. I can get movie info from amazon or Google. It may not be as convenient but I can read the thoughts of actual movie goers and not just paid shill reviewers. And I can DISCUSS the movies. I can ask or answer questions on filming locations, costuming, music and uncredited actors. Removing the messageboard is a BAD business decision. I don't do Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Imgr or any of the other social media IMDB thinks is a suitable substitute for the message boards. They aren't. I'll remove the apps and I won't be visiting the website either. IMDB may not die but it won't be the vibrant (cash cow) it currently is. Badly done, Needham, Badly don.

I've learned a lot of valuable information from the message board on IMDb that I wouldn't know where to find otherwise

Vital ingredient of the website. Perfect place for post-watch analysis of films. Always interesting to see other people's views and theories on a film. Without the message boards, I'll have no reason to visit IMDb.

I am very upset at your decision to shut down the message boards. I doubt if this plea will do any good, but I implore you to please reconsider.

I've made exactly 2 posts on the boards, but I read them constantly. It's a big mistake to get rid of them. You do know that people can ignore trolling, right? I do it all the time to get to the info I'm looking for. I scroll right past them when I'm looking searching..."what was that song?", "I didn't get the end." or whatever it is I'm looking for. This is either about money or censorship. It's gotta be one or the other.

Trolls have infested the internet across the board - this is just giving in to them. Besides the more obscure films actually do have some interesting discussions that are relatively troll-free.

It would be a shame to get rid of the message boards it's the best part of the site

This community of cinephiles has been significantly developing my passion for films for years. And not only are the bigger boards valuable, but each film's little forum always has people contributing information, jokes and worthwhile discussion. Obliterating all of that, and poorly offering the cheap, content-less fb, twitter, snapchat and tumblr as a replacement, is not rewarding.

I have had my account for 14 years. This is very disappointing. Start banning IP addresses to combat trolls. No more sock puppets
