IMDB message boards are unique and a great way to connect with other film buffs. They will not be easily replaced by "social media."

Been on IMDB message boards for many years. Recently I decided to make an account. I love chatting with people on here. It makes my day!

I can get movie info anywhere- I come to IMDb for the boards and fan theories. One of my fave things to do is to look up movies before I watch so that I can know what to look for. Please reconsider shutting them down.

I log in to IMDb especially for the message boards. Please don't get rid of them.

Please don't disable the board, I don't feel I've truly watched a film til I visit its message board to see what other people are saying about it. Have often read some very thought provoking posts, and has been useful to have somewhere to post a film-specific question....

So I just found this forum post about imdb closing the msg boards. I don't know if this is hoax or PR stunt or for real. It really don't matter. Do whatever the hell you want. It's a great place to be but I'm sure we'll live. Goodbye and thanks for all the shoes.

IMDB forums is the first place I go to after watching a movie. This is because other users almost always post something that adds new insight to the movie or helps answer an unanswered question I may have. Please rethink this desiccation because I think many others feel the same way. If the message boards don't exist I think IMDB's traffic will plummet more then IMDB expects.

Really a shame that you are kowtowing to bullies who post stupidity. The boards help me to learn about the films and tv shows out there. Right now, the world is letting the aggressive behavior of a few people alter civilization and not in a good way. Without discourse, our humanity will be circling the drain. We need to fight against the trend to barbarity and savagery. Humanity is better than the petty behavior of the unsocialized. We are better than this.

What's the point of going on this site if there are no message boards?

Please keep them open. Monitor them or something. I don't know. Please don't let the nasty people ruin what other people love.

So many great and still active relevant discussions happening. I check the boards everyday.

Keep it up. The most entertaining thing on IMDB. If it's not there, neither am I.

the message boards are literally the best thing in imdb. i discovered so much movies i now love by threads and other people's opinions. if you really get rid of them, a part of the possibility of people discovering hidden gems will die. also, i don't get the reasons. if you're blaming it on the traffic... i see one post a second in boards of movies that are playing in theaters, and a lot of posts daily in famous or classic films that people like. also, i believe a lot of people read the boards but don't comment, and one of the reason is because they don't want to register. taking off the need of registration should be considered before shutting down the whole thing. if you're blaming on trolls... there are trolls in literally every internet website, and there are few in imdb compared to other boards. everyone who is on the internet daily knows they will have to read something a troll wrote at least once a day. shuting down the whole boards and ruining the discussions and fun that thousands of users have every day is not the best way to deal with that. actually, if you shut down the boards, you are the one who's giving other people a bad experience. so i ask, from the bottom of my heart, don't shut down the boards. a big part of my internet experience depends on them.
