Dear Mr Needham, I would ask you to take a step back and seriously reconsider your decision to disable the IMDB message boards. They are a joy to be a part of and despite the odd troll or two, run smoothly. Also the boards are a fountain of knowledge and information, that is testament to the calibre of people who choose to contribute and share their knowledge and wisdom. Please do not disable the boards. IMDB is one of very few community film forums and I will be genuinely sad if they go. Regards Nick.

I visit the message boards frequently to check up on the latest buzz on new movies and shows. I guarantee that eliminating them will make many of my stops here ... unnecessary. Good-bye viewers and then good-bye advertisers; soon good-bye IMDB??

Rather than getting rid of the message board component maybe have them moderated.

I have used IMDB for years and love to talk about movies with other users. Reading reviews is a 1 way discussion. I like to be able to ask questions or give answers to things that people inquire about...

I can't believe it. They are deleting one of the best imdb features. Please don't.

Please don't disable the message boards! For many of us in the hinterlands, finding someone passionate about Bergman's "Winter Light" is impossible! IMDB is where I find kindred spirits!

The main reason I (and many people, I'm sure) go to IMDb is because of boards and possibility to discuss the movies/TV series we loved or not so much. There's no way I'll automatically migrate to their Facebook or Twitter pages just because it's convenient for someone, there are other possibilities after all. Moreover, not only will I stop using IMDb site, but also unfollow its ALL social media pages I'm using!

I'm sure there is a reason beyond money as to why this is happening. However eliminating direct communication between fans is a drastic measure that can do more damage than prevent it. IMDb is the Bible of movies and television This is the site where all quotes and data come from. I come here first whenever looking for an answer. But secondly, I use the boards as a way of finding information that is not so readily available. For example, will there be another season, and what month will it start because all we see is January 1, 2017. Uncredited actors, not listed on the site Is this show worth watching, or where can I go to see previius seasons so that I can catch up, why some voters gave a show a certain rating, etc. There has to be another alternative rather than sending viewers to social media where many like myself, don't want all of my friends knowing all of my opinions about the shows I watch.

Please don't shut the boards down! There is no other place on the net to discuss such a huge database...more dumbing down of America!

Closing the message boards will rip the heart out of IMDB.
