I simply do not buy the reason for ending the boards. This may have more to do with bowing to pressure from other sources (celebs, studios, security agencies --even lack of monetization) - but not for the reasons being cited -- which sounds like spin. And f FB! Why does everything have to go thru FB? I join the others here imploring IMDB to keep the message boards --one of the great sounding/community boards of all time for movie lovers. This is what happens when the big boys gobble up the original players.

I've been using the message boards irregularly since Monsters, Inc. came out. Every time I see a movie that I want to discuss, I visit IMDb message boards. It's unlikely I'll keep visiting the site knowing that there is no place to discuss and interpret what I've seen.

Going to the Imdb message boards after watching a movie has been a ritual for me too for the past 10 years. I've made my cinematographic education reading them! Don't give in, trolls will be trolls and they are a part of the experience.

The IMDb boards are what turned me from a casual visitor who came to check the ratings of movies to a longtime contributor and filmlover. I wouldn't be on IMDb without the boards and I won't be staying if they're going to show so little consideration for all of us who've turned this site into the biggest movie archive on the planet.

The message boards are the best thing by far about this site and the only thing which keeps me coming back. Closing them down arbitrarily and with a whole 2 weeks of warning is arrogant in the extreme. If they go - I go, and I am sure I am not the only one that thinks like this.

I've been using the community message boards for 18 years, it's a GREAT resource and I've made many great friends and not had bad experiences. People Love this little community, don't shut them down. It's a cold, cynical, corporate move that devalues the point of imdb and makes people lonely!
