The boards are the first place I go after seeing a film. It's where you understand people's thoughts, feelings and theories on the film. Please keep it

Please keep the messageboards, they are the only reason I've learned english and is the only place where we can discuss so many different POVs on movies

I probably won't come back after the 20th. Discussing if other people had the same vision on certain movies, series and characters is the main reason to visit imdb for me. The message boards are the soul of imdb, corporate greed is going to Shang Tsung all over it.

Yeah, there are idiots out there who post dumb stuff, but the IMDB message boards are great for viewing other's perspectives and thoughts that help amplify the movie/tv show experience.

Corporate culture quashing diversity of opinion? I'm shocked!!! Amazon may want to think of as IMDb as just a platform for their store, the joke is on us who worked our butts off contributing data, bios and reviews who thought we were contributing to a wikipedia of cinema. Shame on Amazon if they don't rethink their decision.

Unbelievable to hear about this. To have the plug pulled on 20+ years of film discussion is very shortsighted. The social media platforms are not set up for this type of discussion, and there is more trolling there. For every troll post, you have several hundred decent, thoughtful posts....Well, I was a longtime user who loved being able to look up obscure things, looks like as usual, the bad guys and bean counters win. Overall, I think IMDB will die a MySpace type death once this happens, as it seems the boards are a very popular feature, and people will not go to Facebook to talk about movies and slog through nine zillion other social media crap things to get to it, instead of coming to the site, going to the movie and talking. Less traffic on the site for what is left over besides the boards, is still less traffic. If trolling is such a fear of theirs, why didn't they just charge us all ten bucks a year or something to register, and try to weed out the trolls? No, I think, as usual, they can't figure out a way to make a lot more money off the boards, so they'd rather cut them than try to figure it out. Nice one, chaps!

The boards are one of the few places to ask questions and get answers about lesser known films.

I've been using IMDb for almost 20 years, and 99% of my reasons to use this are the messageboards. I have absolutely no need for a movie database without the conversation, every bit of trivia and cast info and whatever I can google myself, but the organized, rich and all-encompassing conversation is of paramount importance, second to none, and quite easily the highlight of the whole site.

Keep the message boards. It's still a great way for free advertising.

IMDB's message boards are the key source for interesting information regarding any movie, especially the more obscure ones. I don't care if you disable the boards for mainstream blockbusters, just do not disable them for everything else, since there are intelligent, entertaining and informative discussions ongoing on those. IMDB will be crippled is you remove all discussion and users (real movie enthusiasts) seeking for peer info will just move to Rottentomatoes, not FB or IG as you seem to wish them to do.

Huge error in judgement. Please reconsider before you do irreparable damage to your own site.

Don't let the trolls win - find a system that erases them automatically!

Although I don't post I've always enjoyed going through the message boards, and it's honestly they main reason I use IMDB.

I didn't often write there myself, but reading the discussions on IMDB message board has always been an important part of watching a movie or a series. Maybe there were some trolls, but apart from that there were so many great discussions – how can you even suggest that your Facebook page can replace it? You miss the point so badly, have you even visited any of the two? Place some effing ad space on the message board or something, if this is about the money, I can't see any other reason.

Message boards posts are the reason I have stuck with shows. People bring such interesting explanations and perspectives and it has kept me engaged with the affair and other shows. I'm really sad to see this go.
