This is a ridiculous decision clearly made by people only thinking of one thing: profit. not everything should be about metrics and statistics. imdb doesn't give a damn anymore about what makes it unique which is the users and user engagement!!! been on IMDB forums for around 10 years, it gives me as much information as the site itself, and I'm not often assaulted ; I guess it's once again money taking as they won't have to pay modders

The IMDB boards invite recurring visitors to discuss TV shows and movies with fans that are hard to find elsewhere. Nowhere in real life can I go anywhere to discuss Cheers or Roseanne with such dedicated fans. That's what has made IMDb's appeal so unique to me and many others. With that element removed, I'll probably venture to others sites, such as Wikipedia, to learn more about my favorite movies. With fewer monthly visitors and higher bounce rates, expect your ad revenue to drop.

There is way too much to archive, and this is still the best way to get feedback and opinions for each film on its own.

I love the message boards. It not only can be educating and fun, it gives me valuable information I've used in my business. I also look at it for reviews first, before I read the newspaper critic reviews. I'm so upset.

well I've been a member for around 12 years and its really the only reason i use the website. i like to read peoples opinions. doesnt look like ill be on this website again.

A lot of crap yes, but so what. You purge them regularly anyway and it's still possible to discuss movies and/or get help with interpretation.

There are folks that make these boards not fun, but there's also some really good conversations and information to be had here. I'd say on the whole it's a worthwhile experience.

This is a limitation on free speech and expression and should not be sacrificed on account of some trolls. The years of great discussion and fan analysis are a major loss. This basically tells us that trolls have won and that our culture is too weak to handle them. I have faith in human abilit

I love the IMDB message boards, and they're the reason I visit the site so frequently. Genuine movie lovers have no reason to make visiting these boards a "negative experience" for other users.
