I've been a heavy imdb contributor for 20 years and am sick about this - and over the total lack of warning. Despite imdb's ridiculous claim, social media is NOT a viable alternative to the discussions and wealth of information available on those individual title boards.

THE REASONS THESE BOARDS ARE ENDING ARE GREED AND ILL TREATMENT OF OTHER USERS AND PERHAPS LAZINESS. MY IDEA HAS ALWAYS BEEN TO SEPARATE MILLENNIALS USERS FROM 30S-40S AND THEN 50S ONWARD. THIS IS A TERRIBLE DECISION BY IMDB, AS SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE CONTRIBUTED CONSIDERABLE TIME/WORK. ALSO, MUCH TRIVIA CAN BE LEARNED FROM THESE MESSAGE BOARDS. PLEASE CONSIDER KEEPING THE BOARDS!

Since 2004, I could share my passion with other movie lovers, depriving us from this unique platform is really a step backwards that make us even reconsider our own passions. I'm not even sure I'm interested in movies anymore, it's like this decision killed all the fun.

I believe that if the IMDB closes the messageboards I will cease going to that site. The key reason I even go to the IMDB is because of the message boards.

After 16 years of using IMDb and posting/reading the boards almost every single day I will say good bye once you close the boards and i think a lot of others will do the same.
