This is a sad precedent to set, if we shut down everything on the internet that has a few trolls we will soon have no internet. There is so much worth saving about the communities built inside these boards, and the insight we get from seeing other people's views on the films and shows we love. I can't for the life of me figure out why they think this is a good idea. It's the feature of IMDb I use the most.

I have been a loving loyal member for 15 years (over half of my life) and if you kill the message boards, then you basically have killed my membership! I visit IMDb MULTIPLE TIMES a day to read the message boards (and sometimes comment) after watching my favorite shows or new movies. It's a time where everyone can discuss in a safe place, and no social media is necessary. I love to learn new things from the discussions and I love that you don't have to have Facebook or Twitter to join. If you end the message boards, you're killing the heart and soul of the site, and trust me, your online traffic will decrease by at least 70%! Please please please I implore you IMDb and your board members to reconsider! It just won't be the same at all if I have to go somewhere else, and I really don't want to go anywhere else.

Please keep the boards. I love going to them after watching a movie to see how other people felt about it or ask questions if I didn't understand something to see if anyone else did.

IMDb message boards is one of the best sources for movie/show/actor info on the internet. These discussions are vital and provide a lot of information. I learn something new everyday reading these message boards.

Was devastated this morning when I read that the IMDB boards were being removed. Please don't do this! Social media with character limits and no organization is not a good alternative. I run my own website where my co-owner did the same thing, and facebook is an absolute mess to try to have a decent discussion and avoid repeats. Every movie, every show, every individual actor; I'd be on the forums afterward reading up on the things I missed and getting my brain going to come up with analysis I never would have thought of if I hadn't had a place to bounce the ideas off of. I'm so sad, because this petition will amount to nothing. What a complete waste of a big part of what made IMDB great. Now it will just be a wiki site.

What a shame! The boards are the reason I am a member of IMDb. There are any number of other places to get reviews. This has nothing to do with trolls - it's some sort of money-making decision. If it were an altruistic move by IMDb/Amazon they would have put it out for discussion/voting. I believe there are more people enjoying these boards than there are people upset by trolls. I will not be using IMDb once the boards have gone.

The good (by far) does outweigh the bad. You will find idiot trolls in any forum. I just ignore them. I learn so much in these message boards not mentioned in the review section... interesting, rarely know facts about actors & films, where to find rare, out of print releases and such. Please do not shut it down.

I only really come onto IMDb to check the message boards and see chat regarding a film or program that I have just watched. So please keep the message boards going and allow us grown ups to deal with the trolls.

Please keep the message boards. When i first joined in the early 2000s there were lots of viscous arguments and trolls. Now there are hardly any. Everyone grew up and just wanto discuss in depth movies or shows and to explain what happened in a movie that is not understood. Plus I can't find anything on twitter or the IMDB fb page. I love it here.

Please don't shut down the boards. For many of us they are a vital lifeline to the outside world and there is a real sense of 'community' in some of them. I would greatly miss the boards and the friends I have made. We beg you to reconsider.
