Please keep the message board feature. It's the first thing I look at on this site.

I rely on the imdb message boards for information and opinions about shows and movies. It will be a great loss to me.

I don't use social media so I wouldn't use the message boards on Facebook, etc.

although this is a very poorly worded petition i agree with every word. it is shameful for IMDB to delete what has come to be the most valuable resource for movie info on the internet

The idea of having to move the discussion boards to other social media sites, seems like a hasty decision, rather than a thoughtful one: 1) Facebook has a tendency to only view the "most popular" comments, and will be a mess when trying to discuss over a longer period of time. And especially discussions about lesser-known movies will be a mess to find. Which is the main reason I visit IMDB at all: Read about lesser-known movies and lesser-known theories of a character, a storyline or stuff that I didn't notice in the film. 2) Rumors says that IMDB started by people that wanted to come together and discuss movies. Isn't this move then a little ironic? You are essentially killing what gave you your birth. 3) "IMDb is passionately committed to providing innovative ways for our hundreds of millions of users to engage and communicate with one another" - Nope. You are not passionately commited to us being able to communicate with each other. You are removing the capability of messaging with each other when removing the Message Boards. 4) "Message boards are always temporary in nature: content is not meant to be kept forever" - Seriously... What? The whole idea of Message Boards is to keep information that people can read, and respond to, whenever they want. This being 1 hour after a thread was being made -- or 5 years! Message Boards are not Facebook or Twitter. They ARE the archive that Facebook and Twitter are not. The beauty of Message Boards is that it informs everyone, whenever it fits for people to read and respond. The threads and comments does not decay the next day when new info is being posted - it stays independently in an organized way. It does not seem you have any real experience with Message Boards and what it really stands for, for so many. Sad.

It is a huge boon to watch a film (any film) and then easily find discussions and be able to discuss nuances and plot points with fellow film fans no matter how obscure or forgotten the title. Please keep the boards alive and don't give up on them just because of a few people on the boards for the biggest mainstream blockbusters
