I've been an IMDB user since 2004 (had various usernames) and support this petition. IMDB should reconsider. Keep the boards going, Perhaps reduce their number but don't remove all of them. Keep the message boards online!!!

The boards can be a useful source of information/trivia for films and stars which are often overlooked by non subsidized articles on other entertainment websites.

By no means a daily contributor to the message boards I have used them for the last 10-15 years. I've always considered them a resource unparalleled on the internet regarding movies and tv, there is nowhere quite like imdb for its breadth of content.

IMDb was one of my first visited internet page when I was young, it's been my cyber best friend for all those years, the first place I went at the end of a movie, sharing thoughts, interpretations and recommendations. I can't believe such a decision, facebook will NEVER replace that!

Please keep the message board open. There are trolls but they can be ignored. I have found the discussion phase of the movie process brings me back to the website 75% of the time.
Thanks.

The message boards are easily the best feature of IMDB. This is the only place where you can go to discuss films and TV shows in detail, read others' insights and offer you own, debate merits, messages, hidden meanings, and so on of various films and TV shows, and if it comes to an end, it will remove much the greatest part of what I come to the IMDB for. I will have little reason to visit the site at all after that.

I'm shocked beyond words that IMDB would discontinue the message boards. I can't begin to imagine what my IMDB experience would be like without them. I've never posted, but I read there just about every time I visit the site, which is almost daily. Reading others' thoughts and exchanges on movies and TV I watch is invaluable to me, I can't even count how many times I search out the boards after viewing a show or movie. I will be lost without them and IMDB will never be the same. The good and thoughtful posts definitely outweigh any negative ones. The other outlets don't work nearly as well for me for this kind of discussion. Please, please, please keep the message boards.

I'm honestly sad about this. As part of my film watching routine I always head to IMDB after I watched something and read the message boards to see what other peoples comments and interpretations of a film are.
As I usually watch films alone this is great for me as it's my only way of getting a second opinion!
AS if IMDB is stating that their fb and snapchat are a good replacement for their boards? Ya really think I can go on FB and write an obscure comment about an obscure old movie and get a sufficient number of replies on it! AS IF!! You know how quick facebook comments move down... it would never be seen.

Lots of useful background information and analysis are in these threads. You are really doing dis-service to movie fans who like to look deeper.

I always loved being able to get a better understanding of the movies I am watching by reading other viewer questions and responses. Please keep the message boards.
