There is no good reason to shut down the boards. I've been on IMDB since the beginning and going through my old board threads is a great way to see how the community's and well as my perspective, questions and opinions on specific movies have evolved.

Frankly I think this is ridiculous. This is the primary site I use to discuss film. If the boards are removed you might as well take down the entire site.

As an extreme "movie lover" all I can muster right now is "please don't." Please do not delete the messages boards that I have come to enjoy every single day. I have been looking up my fave films since 1996 and it will be a tremendous loss. IMDB is one of my favorite reasons to go online to begin with. I love reading what people have to say regarding their opinions of a film that I have always enjoyed or either made fun of for it's terrible plot. Your users have laughed right along with me for years! In this constant world of violence and bad news, your site honestly is a great to take your mind off of it, so please reconsider for all of us movie lovers out there. Thank you...

This is so sad...I can't believe it's just because of the troll traffic. One can ignore that sort of thing to have the pleasure and privilege of sharing one's views of specific favorite films with other fans. I don't care what the IMDb studies say, it won't be the same to post on their FB page or their twitter feed. By the nature of those media sites, it cannot be as focused on a specific film or artist. We're losing a major resource.

IMDB message boards is one of the primary reasons I visit this site. They help me get a deeper and better understanding of the movies I watch; some people share insights that didn't even crossed my mind. This is not only a great social tool, but also a powerful tool to enrich the mind.

The decision to shut down the message boards, and our community is a corporate one, and is totally at odds with IMDB users, who enjoy the experience. This decision is ill-thought out and unnecessary, it's simple Corporate Cronyism.
IMDB will lose users and popularity over this blatant attack on free speech!

The IMDB message boards are unique because people would be able to comment on EVERY MOVIE EVER MADE, not just the latest blockbuster. Every movie, no matter how little seen, no matter how old. And you could get replies years later. This is UNIQUE. And will be lost!!!

I hope IMDB does NOT shut down the message boards. I always had fun posting on the boards. If it does I hope IMDb losses money big time and go out of business like Blockbusters and other companies that throw their customers right under the bus with bad decisions.

Please keep the message boards. They provide very interesting discussion and information on films. They make me want to watch some films that I would otherwise not know about. I have been a participant for over a decade. I will not be able to use IMDB for much else after they are closed.
