Agree. Message boards should live on, just for the mere fact that the movie info we have on the rest of the page can never compete with what like-minded and genuine movie lovers bring to the board discussions. It's going to be all rotten tomatoes.

I read the message boards of every film I watch, even if I rarely post. I will definitely use IMDB less if the boards go away, because that's a huge part of why I use it.

Movies and TV Show fandom, shipping, and discussions we're born on the IMDb forums. Readers can't forget shows like LOST, X-Files, etc and the connection with Fandom on the boards during those times. FANDOM WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. A part of what made the internet great, dies on Feb 20th.

The vast majority of the time (which is OFTEN AND ONGOINGLY) when I visit IMDb and its wonderful message boards, I'm doing so in regards to old movies - particularly ones of the Silent through 1940s era - that I have no one and nowhere else to have interesting and intelligent communication or conversation about. On the treasure that is the IMDb boards, I can - and very frequently do - have pleasant, and often downright delightful, folks to interact, communicate, and share with about those movies, who actually also have seen the same long ago and/or obscure, and/or foreign, titles and who know EXACTLY what I'm talking about, are personally familiar with them, and who have their own opinions and insights to share, and who may be able to answer my questions about something I perhaps didn't understand regarding the story, or who can tell me what happened during an ending, or 5-10 minutes here or there, that I missed, or what a character said that I couldn't hear the words clearly, or what does something translate to that a character spoke in a foreign tongue (in an otherwise English-language movie), or how much in 2017 USD would $4 in 1940 USD be. A great many of the movies I especially gravitate to are lesser known, and of very long ago, that there definitely isn't ANYWHERE else online with specific message boards that other viewers and fans of that PRECISE movie can check to see what others have posted. Ditto regarding old-time actors and actresses who are not household names today, therefore who only the most dedicated vintage movie fans are familiar with either the names or the work of. IMDb message boards are a true treasure, and an invaluable unique resource, where anyone around the world can have interesting, rewarding, and enjoyable interaction with others. Ditto, of course, regarding current/recent movies and t.v. series, actors/actresses, etc. I enjoy the IMDb boards tremendously for current/recent fare (particularly t.v. series), too. The boards are very interesting and informative. If you kill them you are seriously compromising the entire website. Don't do this.....give us, the folks that really enjoy the boards a break...don't disappoint so many who love the site the way it is.
