I love using the boards to see theories and thoughts about my favourite shows. It is such a shame that you are even thinking of closing them.

Every single question I've ever had has been found answered on your message boards.
Such a shame, giving into the noisy VOCAL minority :-(
I hope signing this works like it did for BBC 6 Music.

Social media does not and cannot replace the message boards. We can discuss the latest blockbuster anywhere, and those seem the controversial boards, but where else can discuss our favourite 30's screwball comedies, our favourite obscure 50's western TV series, or find help identifying that odd film that has haunted our dreams for forty years? Etc, etc. There are plenty of other options - vastly increased posting limits, a nominal subscription, etc. But don't betray so many of your most serious users. I can only applaud what the IMDb has established, but to corner the market, then trivially remove a keystone feature, which you have fostered dependence on for two decade, seems almost immoral. Of course you have the right, but do you not feel any moral loyalty at all? I beg you, don't suddenly leave our passion homeless like this.

IMDb will have no use anymore when you are closing the message board. They were really helpfull discussing some movie plot points and other things.

I really & regularly enjoy the message board feature of IMDB. Please consider keeping the feature as it exists in addition to the adoption of social media expansion.

I love the boards I love reading what other people think about the tv shows that im watching. I find it annoying to look on social media. 140 character on twitter is not enough n I have kinda given up on facebook. IImdb is the one place I can go and find honest (some times biased) opinionns. U cant get rid of the boards so many from around the world love it. You have created an institution you cant kill it.

I enjoy the comments on the boards for the most part. I ignore the trolls generally.

Keep the comments. Best part of the page is the interaction with other movie lovers plus a way to get in depth.

Although I do not post myself, the forums are one of the most important reasons to visit IMDB for me. I always enjoy reading them and learning about the movies and series I have watched, to get new insights or to see I am not the only one frowing upon something or thorougly enjoying something in a film/series.

Can't believe this, it feels like a joke. I haven't really looked into why the decision was made, but I know for sure I'll stop visiting IMDb should the message boards shut down.
I can't even count how many hidden cult movie gems shunned by the general public resulting in a bad rating, but given a second life within the comments of the message boards.

I hope the message boards do get a chance to stay! I've been a member since 2004 and the message boards for shows and movies have always kept me going! I love reading other people's opinions and finding out trivia for the shows I watch. Here's hoping!
