I certainly will not be spending as much time on IMDB once they're gone.

I love going to all different boards of my favorite shows, movies and actors just to ask opinions on things, discuss recent news, etc. There's really no where else to go that has everything in one place with enough users to actually make it worth going to.

Keep the message boards! What good reason is there to take them down?

You are making a big mistake in getting rid of these boards. True, some subjects have more discussions that others, but it depends on the subject, not the whole damn board. Don't shut this down, please-come to your senses!!!!!

I think IMDB will be less interesting and relevant without the message boards. I certainly will not be spending as much time on IMDB once they're gone.

The main reason I go on this site is to read discussions about a particular movie I've watched or have yet to watch. Even though I often come across inappropriate remarks, such is the power of "freedom of speech" and I can always filter out the inane from the meaningful. I've been visiting this site's discussion boards almost everyday for 15 yrs. -I always count on the boards to influence my decision to watch a movie and I appreciate the insightful opinions made by its upstanding posters. Please do not remove this privilege and end my relationship with my favorite online "hangout" spot.

I believe you had your reasons to cancel the discussion groups. Without getting into detail why, in my opinion, you decided to do that I urge you to reconsider. You might want to strengthen and more enforce the rules for the users (e.g., no trolling, no pirating info, etc.), but closing the groups might bring to eventual downfall of the imdb, which would be a reall shame.
Keep the boards going.
