Like many, I go to the message boards after watching a film or show just to see what others thought. It's also a great tool to find out facts and recommendations. Facebook is NOT a substitute for this, plus who would want their photo and full name noted on their comment posts. Our online security SHOULD be taken into account. With forums you are anonymous. I will NEVER post on your FB page or Twitter due to this because the last time I did comment on one of your film posts a few years ago, 2 guys replied back with obscene and unacceptable comments. DO NOT get rid of you message boards because you WILL lose a huge amount of traffic and hits. You will see.

The message boards are the most important aspect of IMDB. I will likely never visit without them.

Love reading what people think of twists and turns in movies.Especially confusing movies. The positive out weighs the negative b far. please keep the boards.

The message boards are the only place I can find like-minded people with regard to certain niche genres. I have found and watched SO MANY new movies I would never have found on my own, only because of reading comments and recommendations on the message boards. Im not gonna use facebook instead because.. surprise.. its not anonymous. Being unknown on imdb enables me to express deeper feelings and sometimes personal stuff related to these movies I would never tell on such a public place as ex facebook. Also facebook does not relate to anything movie specific for me. btw I really wish they would remove the facebook related stuff when commenting on lists. It has caused me to not comment on those anymore. Problem with trolls: hire more moderators/make stricter rules. simple. just look at twitch for inspiration.

Taking the boards away removes the unique advantage of IMDb over other film information or chat sites - the ability to view film information and chat in the same location. Without that link, there's no advantage to IMDb over other movie sites.

Shutting the boards is a bad decision. We get that the old board format won't work on the new site format that's coming, but don't get rid of them completely. You say 'go to social media to discuss films'. Okay... But at present if I want info or chat about Film X, I can go to the Film X forum and know I'm not going to have to wade through loads of posts about Film T before I find anything relevant to what I want. I think you've seriously underestimated how important these forums are to users. Remember that these forums are your unique selling point - there are plenty of other places around the web where you can find all the information about films that you carry. There's only one place where you can also chat about the film that you're currently interested in.

Very good method to gain insight or info on particulars of a movie plot or actors. I will not use any of the alternatives.

There has to be another way to minimize trolling and rude or immature behaviour on the boards.
