So much will be lost, yet nothing will be gained by anyone as those with paper thin skin that think anything that does not mesh with their opinions is trolling will not feel any more protected or safe, they will just move on to sanitize the next site and making the web a little worse for us all.

it's the only reason I use imdb. I want to know what people think about a scene on an ending or to get an insight about a movie that I love or that I didn't understand, or to see if someone has a different interpretation.... I also like when I enjoy a movie and find people discussing other similar movies on the board... Anyway. I will not be using IMDB anymore if the Message Boards don't return.

I have been a member for over 12 years. The idea that IMDB is closing it's boards is very saddening to me. I understand there are some bad elements, but maybe a revamp of member criteria would keep the boards cleaner and safe from the hate-filled posters. IMDB is a great source for entertainment and there are numerous people on different forums who are starting threads expressing their disappointment in this decision. Thank you

The message boards are one of the finest features of the IMDB site. I will most certainly visit the site much less once they are gone.

First of all IMDB are you mental? The Messageboards are one of the best features of the site, they bring people together and allow open discussion on all things film, I regularly post and enjoy the community of the boards, while there are the usual trolls etc for the most part I find the IMDB messageboarrd to be one of the best on the internet with so many interesting discussions, to retire them would be a monumental mistake and would only further in separating users of your site from what is great about film and that is the power it has to bring people together, please get a clue!!!

Whenever I'm confused about a storyline or want to see other viewers' takes on scenes or dialogue, I ONLY go to the Message Board... Actually, that's why I use IMDb. If there's no Boards, I doubt I'll be back. :(

Migrating the discussions to Facebook is impossible, the format is wrong. The current structure has one forum per show, Facebook would put that in one great big pile where nobody can find anything. In practice you will be killing the discussions.

A number of years ago they made all the comments on articles IMDB posted go through Facebook, didn't like that at all. Now they get rid of message boards, why? Who is running the show at IMDB and how many more mistakes can they possibly make. Probably get rid of my ratings history next because I am to biased towards Francis Ford Coppala movies. Dumb move IMDB.

I would happily moderate for free. My feelings are you are getting rid of the boards because of stupidity.

being able to talk about a specific show or film will be sorely missed. Twitter or facebook doesn't really facilitate this. I think you will kill your own site if you do this by turning it from a community to a place to figure out 'whats her name' from that movie.

imdb is a wealth of knowledge and information. i dont use the boards too often but they are usually discussions happening that answer my questions or i find other people wondering the same thing . its nice to have a place to get that . there is no other place online for that and it would be a shame to not try to find a way to keep the boards going at imdb.

I love IMDB message boards! After seeing a movie I immediately jump on the board to find out others opinion and threories. I even find things I missed while watching from the board. No matter how old the film there is always sone discussion.post. I dont know where i will turn now. Im heartbroken.

The message boards are the main reason I visit IMDB. They are what jelp me decide what I will and won't watch, and I enjoy a movie more fully after watching it when I can read about it. If they are taken away, I will probably visit IMDB 1/10 of how often I do now, if at all.
