The message boards are my main reason for using IMDB. Even though social media has taken over most kinds of boards, the IMDB message baords still has a lot of life on most movies - espcially never ones:
Plus its the only place on the web where you can discuss actual scenes, and specific part of movies and their production.
It would be a great loss for the net in general.

I met my girlfriend (and possible future wife) on the IMDb message boards. We met on the board for "Friends". To find out that the reason we met is closing is heartbreaking. Please don't let it happen.

I check the IMDb message boards after (and often during) every movie I watch. Without them, this site will lose its heart and soul.

My use of IMDb will go WAY down without the boards. Nobody cares about IMDb Facebook/twitter, the boards are so you can learn about the film!
It's 2017, you're going to have trolls everywhere.

This is a stupid move. I always check the imdb message boards after seeing a film to see what others though of it. I may not contribute but I love to read. I don't see much reason to visit otherwise. You'll notice this in the traffic.
