Totally ridiculous- IMDb Message Boards long pre-date the clutter of Facebook and YouTube. This is a much more organized way of reading and discussing archived topics, and has been my go-to for over 16 years. If you shut this down, you might as well shut down the entire site- IMDb is pointless without its boards.

The message boards are the highlight of your website. IMDb features a a sort of comment section that's actually used, unlike that of Rotton Tomatoes, and not a aggravating as on YouTube. Please, for the sake of your users, for the sake of film lovers, please keep your message boards.

IMDb is now owned by AMAZON I think, so closing the message boards is all about saving money on their server. The boards may still run on IMDb PRO, which you have to pay for....

The IMDb message boards are an incredible resource, potentially the greatest single collection of commentary and debate between cinemagoers the world has ever known, and for it to close and disappear would deprive a whole host of people of something they truly value. Please don't get rid of it!

To close the message boards would be a truly huge mistake of IMDb. Yes, there are other social medias where people can discuss films and share ideas, views and ask questions about them, but the thing is: These other sites dosn't offer the same consistency as IMDb does.
Through years, members have been gathering at the site for precisely this feature. When they look up a thing about a film, they can easily go to the message board and learn more about the meaning of something or other, discuss events in the film, actors or anything else they want. Yes, there are some trolls in the forums but that's the case everywhere nowadays.
IMDb will lose a lot of members who come to the site for the forums and have friends and participate in discussions, sharing their thoughts on a vast number of topics.
Please, IMDb, do not close the message boards. This action will in that cae make you very similar to other film databases and sites out there, and thus lose it's competitive edge, that what makes it stand out among the sites and what makes it great. Yes, it has a lot of movie related information, but so have other sites, and without the member's interactions. well, many will go to other sites for information instead. If nothing else, because they feel let down by their favorite site. you, IMDb.
Please reconsider and let the message boards live on. We, the members would be really happy and grateful if you did. Personally, I browse them quite often, looking for details in films and topics which I want to know more about, and even though they are not modernized graphically, that does not take away the sheer wealth of information found on them. Using them, I tend to forget their looks, and get totally charmed by its contents and knowledge. it's truly an awesome place for us lovers of movies in all their aspects.

Dear mr Col Needham, although we understand that there is a lot of people that can't deal with trolls and the like the fact remain that none of us are forced to post on the messageboards, we do so out of own will.
