I love movies and have never found anyplace even close to the IMDB message boards for the amount of knowledge and insight about films that I have found there.

Please let us keep IMDB message boards. It is a rare gem! There's nothing that compares with this kind of interaction that people can have relating to movies and shows. IMDB boards enable me to discuss ANY movie with many perceptive people. What a gift! It is a tremendous benefit to anyone involved in the movie or television business as well. PLEASE don't take this away!

As a disabled long term member of IMDB, the boards give me a chance to discuss, theorise and connect with other viewers, something I would not have without the boards.

PLEASE KEEP THE BOARDS AVAILABLE. YES THERE ARE A FEW TROLLS, BUT NO ONE PAYS THEM THE ATTENTION THEY CRAVE.

The reason I spend time on Imdb is for the message boards. Yeah, the trolls can be annoying at times, but there's also a lot of good discussion about shows and movies. I appreciate the discourse and will greatly miss it.
I'm sure being only one person, you won't care when I say I won't be back if/when the boards are shut down.
You know, I would even be happy if I had to pay a fee to have access to the boards. Maybe that would cut down on the trolls.

As a long time member at imdb i think this is a bad idea! i often come to forums for various shows to discuss and find out info, they are far from redundant and should not be killed!
They would function better with some more vigilant moderation and banning of continual trolls, shutting down rather than addressing this is just a copout! No forums will cause me to go elsewhere and no doubt others will also, so bye bye to many hits and page loads because of it.

12 Years I have been a member, and I have used the boards for much longer than that. The message boards are the heart and soul of IMDB. Please I implore you not to close it down, despite the troll issue this site provides such a wealth of diverse ideas one can read up on.
Discussion of the content, discovery and understanding brought to shows through insights of others. There is no message board even comparable to IMDB. Please do not do this.

I've been a IMDb fourm participant for 11 years. I can't think of a movie I've gone to see or tv show that I've watched where I didn't understand something. That I knew would later be explained to me on the IMDb boards. I'd normally come straight home after a movie just to start posting. Not only is taking down the boards gonna ruin the site it's gonna ruin movies/tv for me

The boards are fun, and can be helpful if you want to check information or see how others rated a movie you're thinking about seeing. I doubt I'd bother much with IMDb without them.
