My sole reason for visiting your site, is because of your boards. They are so important, as they are the best and currently only place where you can easily access all movies and series, and have comprehensive discussions. Shame on you. Say goodbye to my traffic.

This is a very disappointing move. The message boards were very useful for finding obscure information from people in the industry or other fans.

I enjoy reading the IMDB message boards, as they are one of the best features on IMDB. Most of the other content is commercialized. Often when I seek information regarding a show, I use the message boards for clarity and I also decide whether to watch some shows based on IMDB message boards. As in "real" life, I ignore the few postings that are rude, which don't represent the majority of posters. I hope I can find another site that fulfills this need if you discontinue this beneficial service.

I regularly check the IMDB message boards to get an more in depth discussion around the movies in particular. The message boards are a great facility for those wishing to share ideas about movies. IMDB could just as easily introduce more community moderators to deal with trolls.

My name’s Jim, and I created http://MovieChat.org as a replacement for IMDB’s message boards. It sucks that IMDB's boards shut down, but I think I've made the best replacement.
Key Features:
1. Any movie/show on IMDB is also on MovieChat.org - we have separate boards for each movie/show, just like IMDB
2. I backed up most of the posts for IMDB’s top 10,000 movies/shows - most existing conversations on IMDB should also appear on MovieChat.org - we have over 3 million posts already (and I'm working non-stop to back up even more from IMDB)!

I love chatting with folks on IMDB. Sure you have Trolls but that only requires moderation of the bigger pages.
Dont't spoil the fun for the rest of because of a vocal few.
I simply won't be using the site nearly as much. I come on primarily to read other peoples thoughts on the forums.

As a member since 1999, I have been dismayed at the deterioration of the level of discourse on some of the message boards. But simply getting rid of them is to deny the pleasure that serious users get from them. We can (and should) easily ignore the 5% or so of commentators who spew their racist/sexist/political poison into the marketplace of ideas here. Why not just increase the moderation? Yes, they would be subjective, but you are throwing the baby out with the bathwater, as much as I hate to use a cliché. Please reconsider your decision!

Without being able to read other peoples points regarding each movie what is the point of IMDB? This is a mistake and I, for one, will no longer bother using your site. Very short sighted decision which will cost you.

To be honest the boards are the reason why i go to imdb in the first place. Was suprised they made the decision to shut them down. Why punish everyone for a couple of trolls?
