I've been on IMDb for close to 20 years and the forums have always been a large part of the reason I go onto IMDb. People who don't want to share their personal information will not go onto Facebook. FB doesn't stop the trolls.

This is my favourite venue and the only major one I've found on which to discuss movies with others around the world. I've been a faithful reader and commenter here since 2008. Please don't take it away.

I am really saddened by this. Though I never posted to the message boards personally I do READ them all the time! They are the main reason I visit the site to see what others think and say about the movies and shows I watch. I might as well just Google or Wiki an actor's bio and profile now. I will not visit IMDb if they remove the boards. I think it is the only thing that made them unique. They offered something special -- an individual board designated to any TV show, movie or actor. There is no such specific board anywhere else where fans and viewers can discuss. Social Media is not a replacement for that kind of in depth conversation or sharing. This is a very sad move on their part. IMDb has lost their soul.

Please keep the boards! Even though there's an occasional troll the discussions are so helpful and provide a lot of thought and insite.

After using the boards for over 15 years it will be a dark day indeed when I strike IMDB from my daily list of sites to visit. Without the boards I will simply use Wikipedia for my movie information instead.

The message boards are by far the best way to find out information. The majority of reviews are useless and I find I get a much better idea about a show or movie from reading the discussions on the boards.
