My fiancé attended this daycare as a child and we have hopes to relocate to Eden for our children to attend as well. This daycare has played a major role in the child development of my fiancé. He is a great business man and efficiently contributes to society. Perkins Daycare is a pillar for African Americans in the Eden community. It is time for us to be aware that racism has turned to systematically remove People of Color from policy changing positions. It is time to take a stand for what is right. No longer will I sit on the sidelines and be silent, for silence is only a contributor to social injustice. Action must be taken and voices must be heard! The time is NOW, no longer will we wait for tomorrow for it is not promised.

Perkins Professional Daycare has had an huge impact on my life. My first home away from home .. i always looked forward to going everyday , weekends i would be upset because i couldn’t go .. i always felt loved & safe there. I was always comfortable, never had any problems there & met tons of great people. Perkins daycare closing down would hurt our community in many different ways.

Closing this day care would be a big mistake. My youngest son and my granddaughter were students there. My son and granddaughter loved It there. They received love and attention there, conversations going home in the afternoon was nothing about someone getting hurt or staff abusing them all smiles and laughter. Please provide assistance to keep this establishment open, and not another empty building in Eden.

I have known Elretha all my life as we are related. We spent time together as children and were classmates in school. Once she opened her center my 2 children were some of her first students. I was always present while they attended and they received amazing care during that time. I watched her build her business from the ground up and it has become a stapel in the community. My grandchild later attended the facility and Elretha was like a second mom to her. Throughout the years, Elretha became involved in the community to help others in any way she could. As long as I have known her, I have never heard of any of her children at the daycare getting hurt in any way. I have always known her be a very caring person and she is known to show love and concern for her staff and her children at the Daycare. Closing this center will be a tremendous loss to the community and I sign this petition to KEEP PERKINS DAY CARE OPEN.

As a citizen of this county I for one was a former employee of this childcare center when I could not gain employment after graduating college due to being “over qualified” for many positions around this county. I poured so much love and care into the children as though they were mine. My nephew also attended this childcare center for a few years and love it as well. For many years when Spray Cotton Mills, Fieldcrest and Miller were still strong in the community, they were the only second shift facility caring for our children. To turn our backs or a blind eye to this would be a total injustice when we stand for right. Let’s do what’s right and stand with Elretha Perkins in support of her childcare center.
