Mrs.D was a key figure in my life and academic career, she taught me to be my own advocate and to push myself to achieve whatever I desired. That stuck with me throughout college and still stays with me throughout my medical training. She taught so many of us to preform on stage but that transcended beyond the realm of dance. Now many of her students have performed as artists, athletes, teachers, physicians, and policy makers. She brings out the best in her students because she accepts nothing less. That in itself priceless in a teacher.

It’s horrific to see how Blake is blatantly disregarding the arts programs but not paying attention to complaints of COUNTLESS other teachers that have only made students detest school and have their grade suffer from how incompetent that teacher is. I’m tired of being at a school where I’m never listened to and the teachers that are making a genuine difference to the school and the lives of students are removed. This is a complete joke and if Blake continues to fufill the stereotype of being a school that allows the Arts programs to be neglected (despite being an ARTS SCHOOL), I will greatly consider transferring to one of the other schools in the consortium.

It’s better to take a look at the English, Math, BIOLOGY, or the Couselors if Blake’s Administration is hungry to fire teachers. Ms. D’Anna actually cares for her students and loves them as if they were her own kids while a majority of the other teachers don’t care to build or have a relationship with their students. When did School have to become a place where you can’t connect with your teachers and have to constantly be stressed out. Think about the Fall of 2016 and the terrible tragedies that had fallen on Blake, Blake has not been the same. Administration should think about the students when they decide to fire teachers. We are Blake? Are we Blake?

Cutting the arts is detrimental to the entire community and honestly makes no sense because it’s proven that creative kids graduate from college more, and are generally more well-rounded people. The arts will never be crushed!

Ms. D’Anna wasn’t my teacher in high school, but she was my two batons coach when I twirled with the Wheaton Twirl Team. When I started attending Blake, I was comforted by the fact that one of my favorite teachers was already there.

Danielle D’Anna was the single most influential teacher and coach I ever had in my 13 years of MCPS schooling. She encourages community, discipline and ambition among her students and is a committed teacher, counselor, and coach full-time, outside the classroom just as much as inside.

Mrs. D’Anna is what kept Blake going for all these yes. She has invested her blood, sweat, and tears for the students at Blake. She gave students an outlet from their troubles and worries through dance. Not only was she our dance teacher she our mother at that school. Mrs.D’Anna is an amazing woman who works hard and loves her students which she sees as her own children. Forcing her leave Blake will cause major danamge to not only the school but the student body as well.

Ms. D’anna is not only the best dance teacher I have had, but she has also taught me countless life lessons that have made a positive impact on my attitude and life in general. She is the foundation of Blake’s dance program and it won’t be as amazing without her.

Firing Ms.D’Anna is the biggest mistake you could ever make. Fire the horrible math teachers and English teachers before you fire the good teachers at the this school she’s one of the few teachers at the this school who are actually dedicated to their students!
