Petition to keep Mr. Eising at James Hubert Blake HS

Mr. Eising helped push me out of my comfort zone, when he saw the potential in me to be a part of and perform with his Advanced Percussion ensemble! Thank you for that ! My contribution to this petition is to bring to light that removing him is an extreme disservice to Blake and MCPS students!! Thank you for your passion Mr. Eising!

Please reinstate all arts positions- including the signature program coordinator as a full time position. We are in a consortium and this is our "thing". Springbrook has IB, Paint Branch has its technology and Blake is Arts and Humanities. If you cut this program, what will inspire students to choose Blake? Blake does not have a "neighborhood" feeder middle school as the other two NEC schools do so it is critical that we have special focus and extra allocation in the arts and humanities.

Why in the world would one of the best school systems in the country want to transfer arguably the best band director in the county out of one of the best music programs the state of Maryland has ever seen?

The best of the best needs to be at our signature arts school

Mr. Eising has inspired my daughter to reach amazing heights playing her horn. Under his guidance, she has achieved principal horn at MCYO and consistently received top ratings at county and state festival for her solos. He is a wonderful teacher and also instills confidence, pride, and discipline in his students. These are life skills to be applied across all disciplines to bring our children success in their careers. MCPS should be both honored and grateful to have a teacher and mentor at Blake of Mr. Eising's caliber. It would be a travesty to the program to loose him.

Please reconsider the decision to transfer Mr. Eising at the end of the school year.

Mr. Eising is an incredibly impactful and positive educator. He's taught our daughter French Horn for several years now. Because of his guidance she's been a member of the Maryland All State band for the past two years.

One of Blake’s best resources, pls reconsider

This teacher is a legacy and has influenced so many young lives.

It is absolutely ludicrous to do this to John in the middle of the school year and to reduce the staffing at Blake as a result. If this move isn't reversed, residents across Montgomery County will rally and ensure any elected official is held accountable and is voted out of office.

During my tenure at Blake from 2005-2009, I was part of the Symphonic Winds band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Marching Band (when it was 175 people). I feel that qualifies me to say how much of an impact Mr. Eising has had on the music program at Blake and am appalled that the Music and Arts program at Blake will lose such a talented resource as he. A teacher, a mentor, and musician will be sorely missed.

I personally have never had Mr. Eising as a teacher, but from what I have heard, he is one of the most loved and respected teachers at our school. He gets to know students from all grades from all classes and has an impact on each and every one. All of my friends in his class rave about him. His name is most commonly associated with the music department at our ARTS school. Getting rid of Jon Eising at Blake is a huge mistake, and I hope they reconsider their decision.

While I didn't have him ad my teacher specifically, I did work with him and came to respect him. He influenced me in the fact that he was always looking to improve his students performance and push them to do better. I have immense respect for John Eising and Blake wouldn't be the same without him. Blake will thrive with him in the music department.

I graduated from Blake High School in 2014 and Mr. Eising played an integral part in my high school experience. His excellent teaching helped bolster my love for music and the marching arts and to this day I thank him for inspiring me to have continued marching band in college. I played with the Towson University Marching Band for all four years as an undergraduate and it was because of Eising that I encouraged others to love marching band. My younger brother will be attending Blake High School next year and after having a chance to participate in the marching band this year said that wanted to go to Blake because of how much he loved Mr. Eising from the short moment he had with him. Mr. Eising needs to stay at Blake not just because of his incredible ability to make music fun and engaging, but because the next generation of Blake musicians need his mentorship. By releasing Mr. Eising you would bring shame and disgrace to Blake High School both now and to the future. -Christian Piñeiro

My children go to Sherwood HS, but we are friends with many Blake students involved in the music department, and based on the experiences they have had and the feelings they have shared, I wholeheartedly agree that Mr. Eising deserves significant credit for Blake's reputation for musical excellence and should remain a part of its staff. When students in your cluster are given a choice as to which high school they can attend, why would you remove such asset to your program? You may save money in the short term, but you can be sure rising freshmen will be hearing, "it just isn't the same since Eising left" and take that into consideration.
