Save our kids mental health and wellness by keeping the Arts Alive! Our kids livelihoods are at stake and can’t be calculated into a data point driven process...

Music is such an important part of a lot of those students and taking away their teacher is NOT fair. It’s a music and arts school, he shouldn’t be the one of the first teachers to let go of.

Has Bengal Pride become Bengal Embarrassment? I’m thankful to learn that Mr. Eising and Ms. D’Anna are no longer casualties of what we parents of students focused on the visual and performing arts might observe to be a long-term attempt to inflict pain on the very curriculum the county is so happy to point to as a Signature Program. We need for this program to remain vibrant and a point of Blake pride because, contrary to haughty Montgomery County opinion, all high-schoolers are NOT future engineers and have neither the need nor desire to become calculus whizzes. Our non-Science, Technology, Engineering and Math offspring will make their positive marks in many other ways that need to be encouraged and developed here at Blake! Blake Theatre, with its professional-grade shows (please come out and enjoy one if you haven’t!), is an expensive program to run in the first-class manner it has historically been, but it has to be largely financially self-sufficient because of minimal county support – even in light of the county touting it as a Signature Program. Why has it been impeded in the ways it can raise and spend money to support itself, even to the petty extent of being required by the school to pay staff to sell tickets at performances and being denied its initial attempt to sell tickets online through the same service used by other area schools? Why was the band denied the privilege of proudly representing Blake High at a state competition after earning the highest possible scores in local competition, with the rationale that students would miss class? Why was a sports team permitted to travel to a multi-day competition during which they, too, presumably missed class? Why did we nearly loose two high-performing teachers at the whim of school- or county-level decision-makers, while at least one math teacher has been documented by parents to administration for years as being unable to even explain problems from class to students, with the stock answer

My kids go to PBHS, but I have always heard wonderful things about Mr. Eising and his dedication to the music program at Blake---It is a MUSIC and ARTS school...the school needs to keep the teacher that inspires the students.

My children have participated in the instrumental music program since 2009. As one of the signature programs of the school and district, instrumental music has consistently achieved high quality instruction and performance. Mr. Eising has been the one constant in the program, regardless of the number and FTE proportion of the other instructors. Reducing staffing and forcing his reassignment completely fails to support this signature program at both the school and county level.

As the NEC's signature arts school, it is imperative that Mr. Eising be allowed to remain as a critical component of the the heart and soul of the program.

Mr. Eising was my orchestra teacher for two years and he was an amazing teacher. He deserves to be at Blake.

Mr Eising has done wonderful things for Blake for so many years, and he deserves better.

If you have ever seen Jon Eising teach (as a student, parent or colleague) you will remember the passion, joy, and creativity that animate his craft, his devotion and commitment to students, and his stamina in pursuit of excellence. When MCPS wants to find a way, they find a way. I'm sure the Blake community would be more than willing to suggest ways to help you.

Let him stay.

Blake is an arts school. Taking away the core of it is wrong. Our principle can drive 45 minutes away to a swimming meet but can’t bother to show up to any concerts and dance recitals.
