My family and I fully support this petition - I live in Providence Place, I have a 7 year old daughter that goes the Cedar Fork ES . She loves to go to Cedar Fork with her friends in the school bus. Please do no take away her school , bus and friends. Consider our plea and our petition.

I have owned my home in Morrisville (ME zone) since 2007. When our family decided we wanted more space we made sure we bought in the ME zone (Ridgemont). We closed just 2wks ago and had no idea this was being proposed, very upset this is being considered. Please don't change the ME school zone!

My family and I fully support this petition - as residents of Addison Park, our child has established bonds with his teacher and friends at Cedar Fork ES (traditional), and it would be disruptive to him to force this reassignment. Please keep Cedar Fork ES as the base school for the Savannah, Addison Park, & Ridgemont neighborhoods. Thank you

I want to request WCPSS not to re-assign the base schools for the sub-divisions of Savannah, Addison Park and Ridgemont. My kids love their school and have built relationships and rapport with the teachors and fellow schoolmates. It would be painful and unsettling for everyone including the parents. At the very least existing students should not be disturbed and their siblings be allowed grandfathering.

Like many others in Ridgemont, Addison Park and Savannah Neighborhoods, my husband and I bought our house after looking at the schools our children would be able to attend. Morrisville Elementary is an amazing school with a great group of teachers. We have built a relationship with the faculty and staff and changing schools at this time will negatively impact the education of our children. Additionally, having the busing option is greatly beneficial with respect to work schedules. Please do not disrupt so many households - keep Morrisville ES and Cedar Fork ES as our base schools.

Why is there a need to make these changes to established communities while there are plenty of new communities that can be served by Carpenter Elementary?

I agree that this change could greatly affect my situation. It's not fair that subdivisions that were in place for years already have to be pushed out for new ones. If anyone knows of any town hall meeting, please spread the word.

So, I have first hand experience with the change of school districting. I grew up with a Morrisville address. I went to AV Baucom from K-3, then Apex Elementary for 4th and then back to AV Baucom for 5th. From there to Apex Middle for 6th, then to West Cary for 7th- 8th and to Cary High from 9th-12th. My grades declined, I didn't fit in because I was always new and I never had any school spirit. I didn't want to participate in anything because I didn't feel like I knew anyone. I had hoped that my children wouldn't have to go through this. Change some of the newest neighborhoods. Leave Ridgemont and some of the ones that have been here for over 10 yrs. alone.

I concur with many here about the ridiculous proposal and implementation plan proposed by the board. We have two kids (1st and 2nd grade) in MES and like every one in the MES community, we also have invested in the school and community (lived in Morrisville for ~9 years). Its very hard to imagine for us to think about moving our kids from MES to Carpenter that is farther than MES or CFS (currently is equidistant from our home). Looking at the map it does not make sense why some communities that are far from CFS or MES have being included into the CFS and the ones closer reassigned to Carpenter.
I would request the board to create the space for families to share their concerns and also think/work on long term strategy with the communities for implementation rather than thinking on short-term basis that will not help wcpss or communities or families.

This is not the best decision for the children. Until the other schools are improved and rated A like Cedar Fork, there should be absolutely no changes!

We moved to Ridgemont 3 years ago, happy in the knowledge that Morrisville Elementary would be a year round option and was so close to our home, walkable even taking the path through Morrisville Community Park. It seems unfathomable that being in Morrisville and this close to the school that students not living in Morrisville and much further away would take priority over the established nearby communities. I also am puzzled why it was decided to carve our little niche out as I wonder really how much impact removing the elementary school children from our neighborhood that are spread out among the grades, tracks, and calendar options, taking into account that some have opted for charter or magnet schools. I sincerely hope that the powers that be reconsider the proposal and look for other options that make more sense.

I understand the need to get Cedar Fork's population down. However, we have lived in Ridgemont for 11 years. Due to the Town's , County's, and School Board's pathetic planning, we are the ones to suffer. The new neighborhoods that are popping up in every green space in the area should be the ones to bear the brunt of this particular growing pain. I am thoroughly disgusted with the lack of foresight on the part of all the local bureaucracies. The fact that there is STILL not a middle or high school nearby is insane. And reading the fact that Pleasant Grove's capacity is, upon opening in August, going to be exceeded, is ridiculous. Keep the base schools the same, make the new residents attend the newer schools, and please plan better.

In deciding where to move to in Wake Co. We purposefully chose the Savannah subdivision as a central location in Morrisville. In locating exactly 1.5 miles from each school gave us some degree, however falsely, that we would not be part of Wake Co. redistricting. In belonging to our community means going to community schools in Morrisville. We did not choose to move to Cary nor did we chose to send our children to school in Cary. This draft proposal is impacting our children in negatively in that it has created a great deal of uncertainty for them. This would impact all families in our neighborhood financially as moving from an A rated school to a C rated school devalues our property and our community as a whole. You have chosen not to locate a middle school or high school in our community which needs remedied as well. Also, in reviewing neighborhoods that would have Morrisville as a year round base option several are located 4+ miles away in Cary. Really!! So, the idea of zoning Morrisville residents out of Morrisville is a way to kill a thriving, vibrant, and growing community. In no way is this proposal acceptable for students in Morrisville. Thank you for your time.

One of the biggest reason for staying in this neighborhood and not moving is for the school. Its totally disappointing that we are going to lose it next year. It seems unfair for existing families and students living in this neighborhood.
