We, the undersigned, call for a meeting of the General Assembly of the WAAAUB - Paris Chapter in order to hold elections to the Administrative Council. We thus petition WAAAUB to hold a General Assembly meeting on Thursday, November 8th, 2012, respecting the 15-days delay needed for the notification of the current President, as well as all members, of the WAAAUB-Paris Chapter Administrative Council.

WAAAUB's purpose, according to Article II, Section 2.1 entitled "Mission", is to "strenghten the ties between the American University of Beirut (The "University") and all its alumni and to engage ALL alumni in advancing and supporting the goals and the educational, research and service mission of the University. WAAAUB shall foster the educational, career, and social interests of the University's alumni and shall work to preserve and promote the rich heritage and values of the University". As the WAAAUB- Paris Chapter's current leadership has failed to promote AUB's goals, as mentioned above, and has also failed to include all alumni residing in Paris in its activities, therefore we petition for the election of a new leadership.

According to Article 9 of the WAAAUB - Paris Chapter bylaws, the Chapter leadership directs the association and it is to be elected for a period of 2 years by the General Assembly. The article also states that elections need to be held every year to renew half of the members constituting the Administrative Council. The last elections in Paris were conducted in 2009, and thus the current leadership has ended its terms of service.

Moreover, it was drawn to our attention that according to articles 11 and 12 of the WAAAUB- Paris Chapter Statute, The General Assembly cannot hold elections without the presence and approval of the President of the Administrative Council. However, as the current president has cancelled the last General Assembly meeting scheduled on Firday, October 12th, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. , few hours before the scheduled time , without giving a valid excuse or rescheduling a meeting, we call for the support of the WAAAUB to give alumni in Paris their right to elect a new leadership for the Chapter as stipulated in the WAAAUB and the Paris Chapter bylaws.

Therefore, we the undersigned, constituting a majority of the members of the WAAAUB-Paris Chapter, petition for the approval of the WAAAUB to call for the extraordinary session of the General Assembly, during which new legitimate elections would be scheduled, on November 8th, 2012.
