Seeing this legacy finally receive its proper recognition feels like a profound closing of a chapter for all of us. Pharmacy class of ‘83. Was there when his future son-in-law, “Hoss”, aka Jeff Hostetler, came back in the second half to beat Oklahoma on their home field. One of many great days to be a Mountaineer!!!
Grew up on Don Nehlen Mountaineer Football... much respect for this man! In my opinion there should’ve been one of Nehlen before Puskar... JMO Should be one of Sam Huff too!
This man is a Mountaineer legend that elevated Mountaineer football to a national stage. Plus he did it the right way and deserves to be the face of Mountaineer football with a statue.
As a former player who was recruited by his staff and grew up with him as “my coach” I agree that a shrine should be built in his honor.
It's an honor to to sign this petition for Coach Nehlen. He definitely deserves it. He was more than a football coach, and I am sure my teammates would agree with that statement. Don Nehlen, is a leader of men.

My son did a 5th grade report on Don Nehlen for great American Icons. Don was just that, a true class act. He is the face of West Virginia University, the flying WV and the real representation of our state.
