That’s why we are calling on Congress to pass the Fighting Inhumane Gambling and High-Risk Trafficking (FIGHT) Act, a vital bill that strengthens federal enforcement against dogfighting and cockfighting. This legislation will:
✅ Ban simulcasting and online gambling on animal fights, closing a dangerous loophole that fuels the industry.
✅ Prohibit the shipment of mature roosters through U.S. mail, a key channel used by cockfighting operations.
✅ Allow citizen lawsuits against animal fighting perpetrators, empowering communities to take action.
✅ Expand forfeiture provisions to include real property used in animal fighting crimes, further dismantling these cruel operations.
Animal fighting is not just an animal welfare issue—it’s a public safety issue. These activities encourage violence, desensitize participants to cruelty, and even spread diseases that threaten our agricultural system. Yet, enforcement of existing laws has been inconsistent. I’ve seen the “winner” of a dog fight many years ago when I work at an animal shelter. He’d lost both of his ears. Very cruel. Had to be incredibly careful with him because of the other dogs at the shelter v
My neighborhood has had issues with this before and it makes me sick to my stomach. Please pass this and keep these animals safe.
I work for a local rescue and we see the results of this evil constantly. It is heartbreaking to see what they do to these poor roosters. Stop this now.
