Stop building and ruining this town! It's infrastructure is at breaking point! This needs to stop!!!

There is already too much planned housing development on the green belt around Bishops Stortford which used to be a picturesque and relatively unspoilt rural market town. The area has insufficient road network to support the current traffic congestion, parking and air pollution.

Ridiculous place to build a school and houses, will cause major traffic problems

The appropriate infrastructure is not in place for the current levels of development that have taken place within the town. The proposed development will increase the burden on the already over stretched resources. Re think this EHDC !

How the will the additional 100s of cars be catered for each rush hour? How many GPs, Dentists and School places will be added? What amenities will be provided for the extra 5,000 people who will suddenly be living in the town? I understand everyone says Not In My Back Yard - but the town's infrastructure is already stretched to breaking point. This needs a re-think.

Just so someone can make millions by selling off the land that the current schools stand on. We are not just talking about building here, but building on the land where the Boys High and where Herts and Essex is

Without proper infrastructure this scheme is pure madness

Will our servants the East Herts Council be permitted to act undemocratically again:- as giant-property- developers? They "want" to concrete over BS North, BS South, Town Centre, Railway Yard, Harlow North, and all spaces in between. Why decades more of concrete jungle "strategy"/"planning" ? Same as the past 40 years ENOUGHT that they have dumped onto a "rural market town":- Thorley Park, Bishops Park, the Herts & Essex Hospital houses, the birdy estate, St Michaels Mead, the cinema box, the concrete block obscuring the river with its "new shops", the bypass with no segregated cycle paths, Birchanger service station, (not to mention when a motorway and airport arrives they omit to demand for airport's BS neighbours any aid for necessary infrastructure upgrading and support.

Before new housing is agreed to, schools and doctors services need to be increased

No more building here, already disappearing under a sea of concrete. Not enough schools, doctors, dentists, parking or roads.

I sign this petition to express my disgust at the EHDC renageing on the Judicial Review they won some 3 years ago. They used MY MONEY to win that and now they backtrack. They are spineless and still don't understand how people wish to protect all Green Belt land when there is adequate other, brownfield sites available.

Green Belts are there for a reason. Why does EHDC keep trying to override the designation? This area is also under a flight path. The town is struggling already with traffic pollution and frequent gridlock on its roads, not to mention other aspects of infrastructure problems. We are already facing huge development to the north. This area to the south must be protected.

We object on grounds of road safety and the lack of sufficient facilities within the town. The town cannot bear further expansion without a commensurate improvement in infrastructure

Bishop's Stortford hasn't the infrastructure to support such a high level of development in the town. It can't support the population that exists at the moment. Hockerill is a very polluted junction and this can only get worse with the proposed developments. No solution to the congestion has been found and I have lived here for 36 years. Schools are oversubscribed, in addition too many pupils from out of the area are travelling into the town, also adding to the congestion at Hockerill. The Doctors surgeries in BS are not fit for purpose because of the already high number of residents in the town. The high level of crime, low level and more serious, seen recently in BS will undoubtably continue unabated unless ther there is significant investment in rhe local police. None of these issues have been addressed in our town, building 4,000 houses will only make matters worse, Market town? No way.

I believe that the fact that the developers appear to be leading development in Stortford should ring alarm bells. At the very least a truly independent enquiry should made into the possibility of wrongdoing.

In 2010 and 2012 the Green Belt land at Whittington Way was judged to be protected by East Herts Council and the government’s Planning Inspector. It is therefore outrageous that East Herts Council should now reverse their position and zone this whole area for development in the draft district plan. This proposal by East Herts Council will have a disastrous impact on the whole of the town and its fragile infrastructure. It’s about time that the “Sword of Damocles” is removed from the Green Belt land at Whittington Way and both the East Herts Council and Hertfordshire County Council stop wasting considerable sums tax payers money pursuing this lost cause.

The traffic is already excessive and this will make it much worse. Children giong to/from school by car will add to the conjestion and, if walking/cycling will have to cross the London Road and/or Whittington road which will become a deaathtrap. Enough is enough
