It appears on the surface an investigation is needed. If not to validate SACAP's point of view, then to satisfy members one has been done. However, an investigation in the form of a "witch" hunt will not serve anyone any good.
I recommend members refrain from generalized name calling and attacking others within our profession (I.e. Draughtsmen, technologists, etc). We are all part of one family. A family that has grown since 1994 and still must grow to include more people and allow opportunities at all levels not just Architect.
Proceed with the investigation, but do not waste more money dissolving boards and paying for their suspension time. Work together through an independent inquiry.
A thank you to those who flagged this matter for inquiry.
Let us act professionally and allow both sides to present to an independent board.

I agree. All sacap is interested in is making. Everything must be paid for and no refunds. Pay to write a exam. Pay to go to a workshop so one can pass the exam. Paying annual fees instead of maybe every 5 years. Delays of one having to upgrade. No professional response from sacap. And yet they suppose to represent the architectural profession and the architects/draughtsman. But they making our life hell and in this economy after studying 4 years for degree, I must still write exam and pay the enormous fees. Just another way of government stealing money from its people. Lawyers and doctors don't go through this Crap we have to. And don't forget the cpd point's. How in the hell can I afford to go to those workshop for 2 days and pay R5000. Makes me sick. They are killing the architectural profession and NOT helping
This council needs to start looking after architects and not just the General public and its own employees!

The courses offered & prices seem to indicate those in charge have no idea of what ordinary members can afford; another member paying membership fees from overseas had a couple of months of emailing to get the person in charge of accounts to accept that EFT payment (he was told the fees need to be paid "in our currency" and exchange rates took a while to explain)... sounds like criticisms listed in the petition are valid.

Someone who paid their membership fees from overseas using EFT was told by the accounts person in charge he needs to pay in "our currency"... after a long exchange of email exchange explaining to the guy about exchange rates & EFT payments, the payment was FINALLY accepted... but how can you have someone this ignorant working in a position of responsibility in accounts?

It seems management is poor and needs significant improvement. In the past architects did not apply for Council positions because more money could be made in practice. One hopes that architects/persons with the requisite experience will present themselves should this petition succeed, and that previously disadvantaged male/female students/architects will not be left in the cold but receive considered support.

The profession is overrun by grossly incompetent so-called draughtspersons who are registered with SACAP, who call themselves ''architects''. Where is the control by SACAP.? They themselves bring the profession in disrepute.

What a scandal. The SACAP appears to do little other than award themselves inflated salaries for non achievement. Our profession is overrun with incompetent draughtspersons masquerading as architects, what a disgrace.
