Petition to Continue Commercial Activity at Caxambas Park

We love the shell tours and truthfully the reason we come to Marco. If these don’t exist, Captiva & Sanibel will undoubtedly get much busier.

Please don’t do this! Those of us who love to visit the island and take tours from Caxambas Pass will suffer. We love the island, love to visit each year, and love to learn from the tours. I can’t believe the City of Marco Island would to this to those who depend on this for their livlihood. Please don’t turn this beautiful island into something that only those who live here can enjoy.

This is absurd!! Making some parking!

Please do not take away the only way we have to enjoy this beautiful area God created for us all to enjoy. We don't have a lot of money, boats or homes on Marco but we love it and are grateful for thecsmall business people like Carlos who are willing to share their knowledge and boats to take us out to soak it all in. Without them and this convenient Park location we would all suffer and have to do without which would be very sad. It is our love and passion. We treat it with respect, pick up trash everywhere we go and spend our money eating and shopping here. Please don't take this away from all the regular people who love Marco and the Ten Thousand Islands. Thankyou !

A priceless park that citizens need.

Please allow the boat launches to remain open for people to go out on tours of the 10K Islands.

PLEASE DONT DO THIS! I’m a FL resident and don’t own a boat. I enjoy shelling in the 10K islands and by doing this, I have no access to visit a place I love. What is wrong with you people? The beach is becoming privatized and us peons aren’t worthy of visiting if we can afford a boat.

Less government!

Keep our public available areas available for all to use.

The livelihood of many fishing professionals depend on this ramp access. It’s insane how the tourists who live here 1 month get to make up the rules for this city. What about all the tourists that want to take charters out to fish? What are they going to do when the locals are pushed out of everything and no one is left to work.

Traveling to Marco Island to go shelling has been such a joy. The tours are so professional, and I love the whole experience. It would be heartbreaking for me as a tourist, and for those that make a living running these tours if they weren’t allowed to continue.

This service needs to be available or we won't be back. Shelling was an amazing experience! Kayaking in the gulf, same thing!

I always take a trip to FL with my bestie! Next year we were very much looking forward to a shell tour with SWFL Shell Guide. Please don’t stop the tours!

This makes me sad. I come to Marco Island just to go shelling and spend lots of money in the community.

It is absolutely preposterous to think that a city could close down a county ramp. And the county would just let them do that. Something underhanded is going on here. As traffic gets bad in town you never hear of anybody thinking about limiting contractors or stopping commercial vehicles on the roads. They said in the meeting they've done a couple years worth of studies, but give the captains 2 and 1/2 month notice that you're livelihood as you know it is coming to an end coincidentally at the new year. So much for happy new year. If this ramp gets closed down to the captains then it's a matter of time before they all do. They mentioned putting a limit of 75 commercial permits for the year. There's got to be three to 400 captains and Collier County. Quite frankly this seems like discrimination. I implore everyone to contact the Governor and commissioner Bert Saunders. If anybody goes through fishing booker get a hold of them as well. They stand to lose money. The answer to lack of parking is not to take away people's livelihood.

I have signed this petition for the following reasons, these fishing and shelling tours give opportunities to the general public to explore and appreciate the great outdoors! The shelling tour and tour guides are always up to date on their information and knowledge of the wildlife that you will see during your tours. The fishing tours are the same! The opportunities that these tours and these tourists offer are beautiful and rare, and should be allowed to continue for as long as possible.

I have taken many tours with Treasure Seekers and I LIVE HERE!!! It is a LIE that the barrier islands are being overrun by “tourists”...there is plenty of room for everyone...many times we never see anyone except the 6 people on our boat!!! You are just doing this to keep your island “private” and don’t want any tourists there...SHAME ON YOU FOR DOING THIS

The main reason I bring my tourist dollars to Marco is for a shelling tour. If this passes I guess Lee county will benefit
