Petition to Continue Commercial Activity at Caxambas Park

Please continue to allow these tour companies etc to continue to use the marina and boat docks for commercial use. The last 2 times I have been to Florida for the past 2 years I have done tours and also spent money at the bait shops at Goodland marina and spent money in Marco Island while going there specifically for that reason.

I would like to ask please, before you make any decisions regarding the usage of park docks by commercial businesses, you take into consideration the following: businesses who use these docks bring in revenue which benefits numerous entities throughout Marco Island, increased tourism on the island which results in more revenue, the various tours and activities are a huge tourist attractions which are on many of the travel platforms, and many of the businesses pay special attention to the eco-system thus promoting clean water and the protection of marine wildlife. To name one such business, Nautical Life Shelling Tours, is a phenomenal business that provides exemplary customer service and educates its guests on the Florida eco-system. I had the privilege of booking a tour with Carlos Escarra, proprietor of Nautical Life Shelling, this past June. It was the best tour I have been on. Captain Carlos first explained the importance of safety and also informed me as to what type of sunscreen to use which would be eco-friendly. It was absolutely evident he knows the area and genuinely cares for Marco Island, the ocean, marine life and also wants his guests to have a great experience. I am sure there are many other tours that provide this service to its guests. I do not believe that any of the commercial businesses who use the park docks feel or think any other way. I have traveled through the US, going on vacation with my family partaking in many different activities and I have never received the great customer Service I received on Marco Island. The day our tour was booked was rainy, stormy and there was lightening everywhere. I spoke with Captain Carlos about the weather conditions (I’m from Iowa so know little about the ocean but I do know I don’t want to be caught out on the water if there is a storm or lightening. Please continue commercial activity out of Caxambas park. I am a Collier County resident and enjoy activities that are operated out of that park. Thank you for your consideration and help in this matter.

Please let these local businesses survive and prosper! Obviously no big business here on Marco, the local business is The Fabric of the community!!! They offer so much to locals & tourist alike ….. the natural beauty of SWFL and how to pressure it!!!

This is our livelihood, not just for us, for many other guides and their families we know!! They all also bring business to the marinas and other businesses too!

Keep these ramps open!

The Shell Seekers Tour is one of the highlights of our vacation every year. If this denial of permit renewals is enacted, the result will take away both our enjoyment of the area and the money we spend in Collier County because my wife and I will have to go elsewhere to spend our vacation and our money. I’m not sure why this decision has been made but it looks like it will obviously adversely effect the lives and livelihoods of many of the residents and vacationers. DON’T DO THIS!!!

Shutting this down will cost you MILLIONS in tourist revenue and shut down your local economy, sending tourists and their money elsewhere.

This is a disgrace to the people who are doing this to all the tourists!! And the harm to all the small businesses trying to make a living!! Sad.

Closing this park to commercial activity will put many people out of a job. I personally rely on this job to pay my student loans and rent.

Please allow continued commercial use out of caxambas.

Don’t disrupt a meaningful attraction for visitors to marco

I have loved all these activities for most of my life and my children’s and grandchildren! Please do not take this away!

The shell tour is my favorite thing to do while vacationing in Marco

The Shelling Tours are the reason why I stay in the Marco Island area. Taking away access for the professionals who know the waterways will also take away revenue for your county.

Having just enjoyed a shelling tour in the 10,000 Islands, I can attest to the many benefits these businesses bring to your local economy. Doing anything to disrupt their operations is shortsighted and foolish.

One of the many things I love about Florida is shelling. Please don’t take this opportunity away from those that love this hobby.
