This is critical to keep Mum's able to birth at home if this is what they are planning - keep Mum's and babies safe by having these experienced practitioners with them.

Healthy women who want to birth their babies at home need experienced support. Without Public Liability Insurance competent midwives won't be able to offer their service and care. This won't necessarily deter women from choosing home, but could increase the risks to mother and baby.

All women have the right to choice of birth place and with this goes the right to have a skilled birth attendant with them. By not providing access to schemes private indemnity insurance home births will be pushed underground. Women who want home births may not have access to midwives and adverse outcomes will multiply. Birth is a normal physiological process of a woman's body. For many women, hospital stays are not necessary and increase the risk of unwanted interventions which come with their own risks. Allow educated women who choose to have a birth at home that option and keep it safe with an insured midwife present.

Women must have the choice to birth at home with a trained midwife. Removing that choice will result in higher unassisted homebirths.

Options for birthing mothers please. Such an important experience for both mother and child. The more we support them in their own choices the better for us all.
