It is a basic human right that women should be given choices as to how and where they birth

Such an important issue for the future of quality maternity care in Australia, and for women who should have the right to choose to safely birth at home, with a skilled midwife.

Women need to be supported to birth in an environment where they feel safe, nurtured and cared for by experienced midwives. For the right women home birth is extremely safe I fact the evidence shows that it is even safer than going to hospital. What is the government doing taking this choice away. It is a HUGE mistake.

We have been fighting bureaucracy over this issue for 25 years. it is time the government settled it in favour of women and their midwives.

home birth is safer than hospital birth for low risk women. Women should be able to choose the safest and most appropriate option for their family.

Where a woman chooses to birth her baby is the most basic human right!! By supporting the amazing homebirth midwives, you give women this basic human right in safety. It's not about money!

Given that a private midwife is truly the gold standard of care for maternity services, provides the best outcomes (even if transfer to hospital is required) and it lightens the load on already struggling hospitals, to prevent private midwives from providing homebirth services is madness! Until hospital run homebirth services catch up to demand and the high service level of private midwives please don't deny us our right to be supported at home!

I had a home birth and it was wonderful, empowering and calm, much of which is due to the professionalism and care from my amazing midwife. Let's keep these amazing medical professionals helping women deliver their babies in the place most important to them, and while doing so stop putting undue pressure on our Health System. Please continue to support midwives by maintaining their right to professional indemnity.

Midwifes provide a safer level of care and research supports this. De-medicalise a natural phenomenon. Birthing is not a medical event.

Birthing her child in whatever surroundings she chooses must be every woman's right. Homebirth midwives are highly skilled, valued and vital people who deserve the right to practice their profession in whatever surroundings they choose. Do not deprive women of this chioce by denying domicilliary midwives professional indemnity insurance.

How can they take away our rights to birth safely and comfortably at home

This is a must!!! Save women's choice of where they want to birth by allowing private practicing midwives insurance to continue in their practices!

This would be a detrimental loss to women's rights & their choices to birthing.
