Women should have the choice of where and with whom they choose. Taking away home birth as a legitimate choice will push women to birth unassisted and there will be severe consequences.

Women should be afforded the birth choices they desire. If unassisted birth is the only way to have a home birth, then I see a huge rise in these. Surely it would be better to continue to allow professionally trained midwives to attend home births.

Just do it!

Can we just make our own decisions about where we give birth? We're not stupid you know!

Keep giving us women the option to birth where/how we want with the safety of a professional midwife

All birthing families should have the right to choose where they bring their babies earthside! No one should take that right away from them, EVER! And in the same respect they should be able to choose who they have there with them to help birth their babes. Private midwives rock!!!!

Women deserve to have the right to choose where the give birth; they have the right to choose their care provider. Home birth is statistically safer with better outcomes for both mother and babe than hospital birth, for low risk women. Women NEED midwives, and midwives should be able to offer homebirth without fear of prosecution for outdated public indemnity insurance/exemption laws.

Choice of birth place is a basic human right

So important to allow women the choice of home birth

Every woman should have the right to choose where they give birth and who their caregiver is. Disallowing PI insurance to private midwives will just push home birth underground endangering the lives of both mothers and babies.

This needs to happen for the rights of women and midwives in Australia. It is so important

I would be lost without my midwife. I've had two previous traumatic births, and I don't think I'd make it through my current pregnancy and birth if I was just a number in the public system.

Midwives provide essential services and should be afforded the same protection as their fellow health professionals

Australia is so over regulated. How dare th government decide what we do with our own bodies!

This needs to be fixed. Disallowing the right to give birth at home is not an option.

Every woman deserves to have available access to a midwife and to be able to choose how she wishes to birth freely

Midwives need insurance just like any other professional.
