Women have a right to choose homebirth, and a right to be supported by a midwife. Please ensure that women in Australia are supported to make choices about what kind of birth is safe for them and to be able to access care accordingly.

With so much training and research available, private midwives are more than qualified and competent to observe home births. Let them do it legally, and support the peoples' freedom of choice!

This would be the normal way accepted way not too many years ago. A mother gave birth at home with a midwife in attendance. I was born at home in the UK and so were 4 of my brothers.

A woman's right to choose to birth at home is a feminist issue. All femenists should support a woman's right to choose what happens to her body.

Australian Women need to have to option to be able to choose to have a home birth with midwifery care! Please do not take this choice away from us! Think of the benefits to women, children & their families (better bonding between mother & child, increased rates of breastfeeding, less demand on the already stretched maternity care system)!! Many other developed countries have very successful home birth systems in place, including the UK, Canada & New Zealand to name a few..... Why is Australia so resistant when it comes to "allowing" women to make informed decisions about their maternity care?

Professional Indemnity Insurance for all midwives, not just those that are eligible or as It'llbe known in 2017; endorsed for scheduled medicines. How can midwives have any scope to go into private practice when the opportune to gain experience in private practice alongside another midwife is only possible for so few.

We had two home births and they were some of the most treasured moments of my life. Home birth needs to remain an option for Australian families.

As someone who wants to have a home birth once I choose to have children this is of major concern. Women should be given the freedom of choice to have the most sacred moment in their terms and how they wish. If home births are no longer allowed then it will cause women like myself to take further risks by having them without support of a professional

I hope to have a home birth with my next child when the time is right. Even though my birth experience was nice, being at home would always have been my goal had the situation been right. Please keep the home births!

After 2 perfect home births I was forced to birth in hospital for my third child. I can't believe other women will have their birthing choices compromised in the same way yet again.

Having access to a midwife and continuity of care for homebirths should be the norm in this country. Independent midwives are a great asset to their communities and must be supported in their endeavours to provide necessary health care for women during pregnancy, birth and post partum. Allowing Independent Midwies to have professional indemnity insurance will help to service those mothers choosing to birth at home so they may do so safely and also takes pressure off our over crowded hospital system

Every woman deserves the right to choose her place of birth and her primary caregiver who she fully trusts.

My home birth was a defining life experience for me. It was truly one of the best days of my life. Women need to be allowed the freedom to choose the type of birth that is best for them. Please do not take away or restrict access to home births.
